Thank you all for your prayers, support, and friendship.
I'll spare you with the details, but I will share that Dad went back on a med. to help with some of the symptoms. Although it is a step he was trying to avoid, at least he is a bit more comfortable in some respects. My parents are able to join us for the holiday, and we plan to have an enjoyable Thanksgiving. We have a lot reasons to be thankful. Tawsha, I'm so sorry to hear that you have had this experience. As difficult as it is, I find that there are also things to appreciate about the situation. The meaningfulness of the things that really matter is magnified. And the little moments, like sitting at my father's side or sharing a smile put me on top of the world. If you or anyone else have any advice how to handle this with grace, I'm eager to learn. Thank you again for all the hugs and prayers. Each one is of great importance. Liz |

Good Morning Liz,
You are handing this with grace and love. You reconize that every moment with your dad is to be treasured and you are treasuring them. I lost my father 12 years ago. I made every effort to have as much time with him as I could, even separated by 400 miles. I am grateful I made that effort before and during his illness. We talked and left nothing unsaid. I am fortunate that we never had disagreements that put any distance between us. The last conversation I had with him he reminded me to make sure I had a full tank of gas and to checked the oil before I set out on a trip over an unfamilar route. He wanted to make sure his little girl was safe. I still always service my car before a trip, because Daddy said so. Your father will always be with you Liz. He enriches your life everyday and will always continue to. Much love to you and your family this very special holiday season. Cindy |

Liz,
My prayers are with you as I type this note. I walked through cancer with my mom ten years ago and know how difficult it is. The one thing that amazed me is how much people wanted to define our life at that time by the cancer instead of by living. While it was well-intentioned, people wanting to know her prognosis, what we needed, etc..., what we found we needed the most was to enjoy the living - to celebrate everyday. My sister, brother and I told every story we could think of from our childhood to keep us all laughing - boy - did some confessions come forth! We sang, acted goofy, laughed, prayed and cried together - but we lived each day as it was given to us - as the precious gift it was. I know the future is frightening and it is hard to watch someone you love hurt, but I encourage you to plunge head first into the pool of all that which is good and lovely! A "poem" that someone gave me is Cancer is so limited It cannot cripple love It cannot shatter hope It cannot erode faith It cannot eat away peace It cannot destroy confidence It cannot kill friendship It cannot shut out memories It cannot silence courage It cannot invade the soul It cannot reduce eternal life It cannot quench the spirit It cannot lesson the power of the resurrection I am praying for you and your family! Be sure to take care of yourself as the migraines really wanted to steal my time from my mom if I didn't do what I knew I needed to do to do - like get enough rest, exercise, eat right, so no when I needed to - all those hard things when you are going through a time like this. Lots of hugs! "Life is too short, forgive quickly, love truly, laugh uncontrollably, play with children, and never regret anything that made you smile. Life may not be the party we hoped for, but while we are here, we should dance! " |
