Fledgling |
I had to go into the doctor office on a Friday for three shots because I had a migraine that wouldn't go away. I just found out that one of the shots was a Kenalog shot and the Dr told me it should help me for 3 months. I was also given the steriod pack which I didn't realize was a double whammy. I did have a migraine about 5 days later and stopped the steriod pack beacuse of heart palpatations. I had a Dr appt. on Monday and he said that the Kenalog is a low dose steriod used for allergies but has helped with migraines. Has anyone else had such a shot and did it help them? I have had some regular headaches but they seem to be off and on. I still take the Zonisamide and he wants to continue with that as well.

I've never had steroids for migraine. I've only ever had a Medrol pak for plugged ears, and that didn't do anything for my migraine situation one way or another. I've not ever heard of Kenalog, actually.
But if the doctor's seen good results with it from his other patients, and it's a mild steroid, then I'd say you don't have much to lose trying it. I'll certainly keep my talons crossed for you. Dragondrool Forum Moderator ~~8=:>>>> |

Kenalog shots have done wonders for me in the past. They work better for me for persistent headache and migraine cycles than the general steroid pack does. Within minutes of a shot I can feel my sinuses opening and within 24 hours my head feels a lot clearer.
The only drawback is that because they are steroids you can't have them consistently. My doctor will only give me a shot a year, if even that. I've also had cats with allergies who have gotten kenalog shots for asthma and related problems and they can't have them consistently either, but Suki ends up with one almost every year too because her asthma can get very bad. Good luck! aloofelf.blogspot.com myspace.com/leelood5e My disabling chronic illness is more real than your imaginary medical expertise. |
