My new neurologist gave me some information to read and a name of a book to read regarding Migraines. I've read the information that he gave me and I'm in the process of reading the book. Both talked about abortive medications, such as Imitrex and Zomig, and rebound headaches. In the information that my doctor gave me, it said not to take the abortive medication more than two days per week to avoid rebound headaches. In the book, it said not to take them more than two days per month. This has me totally comfused. Confused Plus, I don't know how I could go without taking my abortive medication only twice per month.

Has anyone else heard anything different or similar? I have a list of questions for my next appointment which is in three weeks.

It may be a typo in the book???? Or maybe a really old book???

That I know of, Abortive medication should be used sparringly - if needed, about 2 times a week.

Have you seen the Medication Overuse Headache article on our site? This may help clear things up for you.

May I ask what book your doctor gave you??

Perhaps it is a typo. The book is "Heal Your Headache The 1-2-3 Program for Taking Charge of Your Pain" by David Buchholz, MD.

Everything else in the book seems to go along with other things that I've read on this website and in Teri Robert's book.

Maybe a review of the book will help.

Deb,
Thanks for the link. I didn't even think to do a search on this site for a review. There is so much that I haven't even explored on this site. You guys are the best.

I have a migraine today. I took Zomig NS but it doesn't seem to be working for me today. My migraine started yesterday afternoon. My whole body hurts. I think it's the storms that are in the area today. I'm ready for the spring weather to go away. Makes me grumpy. Frowner
