Well Yesterday was my first Botox treatment. I was pretty nervous about getting it. Not only the numerous injections, but what botox is to begin with!

Anyway my nerou had given me a "happy pill"(lol) to take(Xanax)before the procedure to make me a bit loopy as I do horrible with injections. Well I woulda been better off to take a benadryl or something! The darn stuff didnt work at ALL!

Well the neuro proceded anyway, and my DH was there to hold my hand. We made it through ok! Man thats a LOT of injections! got 15 total.

My head was tender the rest of the day but tollerable. Thankfully! I had to go to a counsoler appt with my son, then 2 of my boys had track meets. PHEW!

This morning the heads not as tender. Im a little bit headachey but not bad. My neuro says Botox will either totally work or totally not, and will be pretty obvious in the next day or so to a week whether it works for me or not. So I will let yall know!

Tawsha,

I can't wait to hear the results of the Botox! I had a doctor prescribe Xanax for me back in the day because she was positive that my migraines were related to having two small children (DUH). I had the opposite effect from you. The boys could have set a fire and I would just say, wow, look at the pretty colors! I was on it for less than two weeks, I think.

I'm glad your head pain isn't to bad. Group Hug

I have to say that Botox worked for me, but I didn't get noticable results quite as fast as your doctor is predicting. So if you don't see much improvement by then, don't lose hope. I would have appreciable reduction in headaches within about 3-4 weeks and total relief after about 4-5 weeks.

Thanks for the replies (and the advice Tracie!)

The mild headachey stayed that way and was nothing yesterday. Today I have a WHOPPER of a migraine. Gelstat, 3 midrin so far, dark quiet room no help. Im just feeling AWFUL today Crying

I was supposed to take my 3 older boys clear out to Scotts Mills(hour and half one way drive) for a Scout outing. Thankfully, when I told the Scoutmaster that I had a migraine, he was able to put my 3 boys and their gear in other vehicles. Usually we dont have enough drivers, and I was fully expecting to have to take extra boys. DH was supposed to drive but had to work last min. So I was VERY greatful!

Laura, I was fully expecting your reaction to xanax, as I can barely take tylenol without being loopy! But my body is acting wierd. Even my Midrin today and Phenegrin the other day is doing exactly opposite of what they normally do! they are making me more ancy and jittery than drowsy like normal. Maybe its the higher doses of Depakote making it like that? I dunno.

I've been doing Botox for 2 or 3 years, and while I've had a partial reduction in migraines, it hasn't been total. However, it does help. I can tell when I'm due for another round.

Ohhhhhhhhhhh.... I hope the Botox works for you. I was involved in a trial at my neuro's office for almost a year and a half. After the double-blind part of the trial, I got the real thing (for 6 months). Unfortunately, it didn't help me, but I know it helps some. I wish you the best. As for the pain from the injections... I wasn't allowed to have anything to help before hand because I was in a study. You're right... it stung, for sure. But it never hurt worse than an actual migraine so I was willing to put up with it.

While it didn't help my migraines, it got rid of a vertical line that I'd had between my eyebrows for about a year (I have no clue where this line came from). Thumbs Up It would also affect how my eyebrows moved up and down. My hubby used to get a kick out of how I'd try to raise my eyebrows and only one would go up. Razzer That was always only temporary, though.

Blessings,

sorry its been a while! busy and lots of migraines in the past week. So far the botox has done nothing to help. My neuro wants to give it till the end of the week though, as I have been on my monthly that causes migraines to be worse anyway. (in my mind thats the best test.. if the botox isnt helping them, then its not working!)

Thanks yall!

Tawsha, I'm sorry to hear the Botox doesn't seem to be helping you. I'll be interested to see what your neuro wants to try next. Keep hanging in there hun, ok? Group Hug
