As I've written on another thread, I went off of Topamax at the beginning of March after starting the Lyrica at the end of January. This switch seems to have thrown off my metabolism, I'm guessing, because I've gained weight: about 10 lbs.

As an attempt at halting this weight gain and perhaps lose those 10 lbs, I've been on weight watchers, watching what I eat religiously, for the last 3 weeks and working out like a fiend with results only in gaining a half pound. (I've been on weight watchers before with wondrous results of losing 60 lbs.)

The last time I saw my doc, he said that he rarely sees weight gain as a side effect from Lyrica. Although, I know it is one of the listed ones.

Has anyone experienced weight gain on Lyrica?

Thanks!

Kelly

I was on Lyrica for about three weeks. It didn't help my migraines and I gained ten pounds. I know the weight gain was from the Lyrica.

I've been doing Diet Center. I started Lyrica in November with a very slow titration up. When I got to 125mg, I had huge cravings for fats and sweets. I gained a couple of pounds and freaked out. The cravings went away, but my specialist really wanted me to increase to the full 300mg. She said I could take part of my dose in the morning, and that might help. It did, and I'm losing again. Slowly, but the scale is going in the right direction. I've lost 47 pounds. I'm shopping in the Misses department for the first time in more than 10 years. About 25 pounds to go.

Lyrica's prescribing information lists weight gain as a big side effect.

Keep after it. WW is a great program. You're doing the right things. I'm sure you'll break through this wall soon.

Thanks, Gretchen, for the encouragement. I see my specialist this coming Thursday so I'm looking forward to talking more with him about it.
