Hi everyone!

I haven't been on much because my 25mg of Topamax twice a day has been keeping my migraines under control for the past year. Yep, only 50mgs has kept my migraines under control for a year! I'm quite the sensitive one when it comes to medicine! I have only had about one migraine every other month, if that often. Unfortunately though, in the past week and a half, I've gotten a migraine almost everyday. I put in a call to my neurologist and he told me to add another 25mg of the Topamax and after a couple of weeks, if that hasn't helped, to add another 25mg.

So, here's my question: When I started the Topamax, the only side effects I had were carbonated beverages tasted flat (which I still have), a little difficulty finding words and a reduction in appetite. The word-finding difficulty went away and my appetite has pretty much come back and my weight loss has stabilized. Now that I'm upping the dose, will these side effects return? I know that everyone is different, I'm just trying to see what happens to most people.

Thank you!
Sarah

It is possible that since you are going to be titrating your dosage, that you may have some side effects again.

But then again, since you have been on it for a year, they may not be as "severe" as if you were starting from scratch.

I would think maybe some of the cognative issues may be back for a while if that was an issue for you (I know that is what happend to me) and if you are adding more mgs, you may notice some more weight loss or change in appetite. I'm just mentioning these because you state these were your side effects before.

I hope the added Topamax helps you out with minimal side effects!

Good luck! Good Luck
