I have taken Treximet once before and the only thing I remember is that it made me feel extremely drowsy. I fell asleep shortly after that and woke up very groggy and with a dispersed sense of headache pain instead of a concentrated one.

Anyways, I took Treximet again today and within 20 minutes, I experienced a sensation of chest tightening and difficulty breathing, I suppose similar to a heart attack (I'm 24). It made me drowsy again and about 6 hours later, I still have a dispersed sense of pain (imagine a drop of wet black ink as the migraine pain, then adding a drop of water to clear it up...it just disperses the pain instead of washing it away).

Has anyone else had problems with this medication before?

Oh, by the way, I am pretty new to taking medications for anything (even Tylenol, which I even try to avoid). So, for anyone one medication..do you feel like the medicine really genuinely takes the pain away, or does it just cover up the feeling? I am having a hard time distinguishing between the two. Thanks.

I recently took Treximet for the first time and I had a similar reaction. I am 25 years old and have been taking Imitrex for over five years. However, when I took Treximet I got hot and tingly and my chest felt really tight. I feel asleep for about 30 minutes and when I woke up my head still hurt, but it just felt more dull. I know it's just two people, but it's odd how we had such similar reactions.

I hope others have had better success with this med.

Treximet is my primary abortive. And it unfortunately only works about half the time, if I catch the migraine right away. I have not had any weird side effects from the med (I'm 24 as well), except for some drowsiness. There are lots of other meds out there that you can try. Let your doctor know about your reaction to the Treximet and see what else they recommend.

Best of luck.

I have very bad experiences with Treximet. I get very groggy and then begin to feel nausea and begin vomiting. The real problem is I went to Immediate Care instead of the ER. There was a doctor who swears by it. It works for her!! She gave it to me and I got really sick. She sent me home and I later was in the ER.

Finally I lied and the next time I was at Immediate Care and said I was allergic to Treximet. My regular doctor said I didn't lie. That we have allergic reactions and we have tolerances to meds we take.

Does it rid my pain . . . not really.

Just hope you find something that work well for you.

Add me to the list that can't tolerate it. I took it once-while still at work(I work in a dr. office) and I was glad I was still there. Within 30 min., I had chest pain, severe hot flashes followed by chills, nausea, dizziness and my legs felt like they wouldn't hold me up. Dr/boss wouldn't let me leave until he was confident taht I could drive and be OK at home by myself.

I know it works well for some, but I'll never touch the stuff again!

This triptan was really strong for me. It worked but momma mia did it knock me for a loop. I am sensistive to triptans anyhow, like so many others are. I use Maxalt and that seems to be kinder than the others for me.

Hi,

I've had a similar experience with Treximet, and don't use it anymore. I am able to use Axert and Frova though. Have you tried any of the other triptans? That was one comment a Migraine specialist did say at the International Scientific Headache Congress this past weekend - if one medication in a class doesn't work, don't give up on the entire class without trying others in it first.

I can take imitrex alone just fine, but treximet gives me the trots something awful a few hours after taking it. Anyone else had that issue?

I also found that the treximet combination was not effective for the migraine pain for me. Given that aleve (naproxen) doesn't do anything for me, I wasn't terribly surprised that this turned out to be the case, but I tried it anyway, since my doc asked me to give it a shot with some free samples.

Life gave me a bowl full of lemons... got any sugar? I'm out....
