I saw this article in our local paper today and I will try to link it here Simple remedy for migraine suffererbut if I can't it discussed a woman who "steamed" (inhaled steam for 12 deep breaths 4 times a day.) Wonder where she got her steam? Anyway she said it helped her migraines, mostly menstrual. My only thought was that when she was first describing her migraines she mentioned her allergies getting worse during them. So thinking the steam was helping that allergy trigger. Anyway, thought I would pass it on and see what you all thought.

Yeah, I saw that today in our paper, too. I also saw it somewhere else online a week or so ago, following a link somewhere I happened upon.

I suppose that steam is a cheap and easy thing to try, if one should decide too. There's nothing to lose, really. Personally, I pretty much dismissed this one the minute I read it, but if it seems to help the person reporting it, more power to her.

I think you might be onto something about perhaps the steam helping to clear symptoms of her allergens, and that helping to ease the migraine triggering. If the physical stress of the allergies is helping to set her up for triggering, and she's able to relieve that stressor through steam, it could very well have an indirect affect on migraine by helping her to be less susceptible to triggering. It makes sense to me. Lots of us report triggering easier when we're feeling icky with cruds like colds and flu, and sometimes that's because of the illness acting as a stressor and lowering our resistance.
