I've had the Imitrex Stat-Dose injections since November. I had the Imitrex injections when they first came out, in the early 90s. Frankly, a regular injection would have been easier than using the injector that came with the Imitrex.
I LOVE the new system! It's a marvel of engineering. A twist, a push, and pressing a button. And it's made so that when you've used both doses, you can safely throw it away in the regular trash. But I have one disappointment. I'd love for there to be a slot to tuck in a couple of alcohol swabs/preps. They wouldn't take up any room, and it would sure be convenient. I have trouble remembering where I put them when I'm in the middle of a nasty. I came up with a solution yesterday. It's jerry-built, and not elegant at all, but it works. I put a couple of rubber bands around the injector kit and slid a couple of swabs, in their little packages, under the rubber bands. Voila! My swabs are attached to the injection kit! The last time I did an injection, it was in the middle of the night, and I didn't want to turn on a light and wake DH up. The swabs were on my dresser, which is where I keep my meds. I couldn't see much by the night light. I ended up in the bathroom with the bottle of alcohol and a cotton ball. I'm almost looking forward to the next time I need an injection. NOT! Gretchen, contact whoever makes Imitrex and suggest that - I think it's a good idea.

Glaxo isn't likely to make any changes now since the patent on the injections is expired and generics are in development. As I understand it, we should have generics as soon as the generic manufacturers finalize their delivery system.
