Hi,
I take 200 mg of Topamax and 30 mg of some beta blocker (i just cant remember the name) every night. I also get an IV infusion of magnesium and toridoal about once or twice a month. Can you tell I get migraines? So, when I usually either take Frova or Maxalt when I get a headache. But I get these weird side effects (more so in Maxalt). For example, a start sneezing (A LOT) and get a runny nose. I get a weakness FEELING in my hands. And when I first eat something i get an odd tingling in jaw (I once saw that in the PI, so it may be common). My questions: Does anyone else have these types of symptoms? Take similar or different meds? What do you do? Just leave it? Thanks! Also, I usually will take an Aleve with either the Maxalt or Frova, it works wonders. |

Hello and welcome to our forum family, Maxzl! Our goal is to provide everyone with the information and support that we all need to manage our Migraines and/or headaches. To that end, we consider this a “safe harbor,” where nobody tries to sell us anything, and we all use “family-friendly” language so parents are comfortable letting their children read the forum with them.
Please take a few minutes to review our policies and guidelines along with the other information in the START HERE folder. For information about Migraines, a good article to begin with is Learning About Migraines - Where to Start It really doesn't do much good to compare individual symptoms, since we all react so very individually to meds, and what might be normal or inconsequential for one of us might be a bigger deal to another. Really, you need to be asking your doctor and your pharmacist about these symptoms. Dragondrool Forum Moderator ~~8=:>>>> |

Droolie's right, we're all so different, it's best to ask your doctor about your side effects but reading about the runny nose reminded me of this article....just something to ponder for you:

I forgot to add, I'm glad to see you're getting results from IV Magnesium. I just started using it to break Status Migrainous almost two years ago and I LOVE it!!

My experience=Maxalt did VERY weird things to me. It made my hands very hot and the muscles in between the bones ache amazingly badly. All this was in addition to the not-unusual dizziness and heart beating too hard thing. Oh yeah, and it made the migraine worse.
I've had better luck with Axert. Amy |
