Does anyone take Zyprexa for headache or Migraine?
I can't seem to find any information linking this specific medication to the treatment or aid of headache and migraine. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. Lori |

Hi Lori,
I don't take it myself. Just curious, did your doctor recommend it to you? All my best! Laura Forum Moderator ***You're welcome to enter your birthday, etc in the Celebrate folder so we can party with you!! =) *** |

Hi Laura,
I was prescribed Zyprexa, yes. "2 tablets by mouth as needed for headache".. During my migraine over this past weekend, I took 2 and slept for about 12 hours and woke with same migraine pain and had to go back to the Axert. I really don't know anything about this medicine. Lori |

I know this, I took 2 as directed on Saturday during a severe migraine when i exhausted the Axert and began to relapse again, and it literally shut me down completley for about 12 hours. I was out cold and when I woke up I was still in a migraine state as if I didn't take it at all.. At that point I just toughed it out until i could take axert again.
But yes, She has prescribed for my headaches and migraines and I am thinking I don't like this medicine very much. More so thatI can't find anything on that's not headache related... Thanks for the help, I appreciate you all very much.. |

Deb- your link took me to Zyban, a medication to help stop smoking.
Not sure if it's the same as Zyprexa or not. That makes me more nervous.. |

Hi Lori,
Yes, Zyprexa IS used as a migraine med!! I've used Zyprexa in the past for treatment of my migraines. My HA specialist recommended that I use it as a rescue med (i.e., a treatment option when my Imitrex failed). I've used the Zyprexa in 2 different ways: 1) On an "as needed" basis for the very severe migraines. 2) As a "bridge"--I took it for 3-5 nights in a row to break a very severe migraine cycle. When you take it, the hope usually is that you will "sleep out" the migraine and allow it to run its course. Hopefully, you will wake (after a good, long sleep) with the migraine gone. Hope that info helps!! |

Thank you Jenny!
You've answered very important questions for me. I got scared when I realized how long I was out for and how funny I felt when I woke, and also that I still was in pain. It is however the "as needed", that throws me off. but I am doing better today.. Your info is much appreciated. Many of you know I have very little faith in my HA doc, which is why I am going to Jefferson in May, but unfortunatley, she IS all I have right now. If I call her, it's an immediate ticket to the ER an belive me I know when it's time to go I think the worst is over. Thak you again.. Lori |

I'll contact our expert patient, Teri, and find out what's going on. Deb [url=http://www.TickerFactory.com/] |
