I started taking Vimpat about five weeks ago. I reached the full dose about ten days ago. In my office they've started teasing me about being "loony." (even "loony-ier" than usual!)

I've noticed that I seem to be somewhat off balance, feel a bit sedated, having increased problems with memory and word finding, and my lips and tongue are numbed. I called my doctor and they've backed up on the dose.

These are similar to the side effects I had with Topamaz. Dr's office said they have found to be much more tolderable than Topamax for most, but I think it is a newer drug.

It's helping so Im fine with some side effects, but was just wondering if anyone else was on it and had experienced any side effects.

Wow! never heard of it! I am off to check its profile out right now.

I hope you have better luck on the lowered dose. Topamax didn't really treat me well either.

I've never heard of it, either. I've looked through our links and even went to a more comprehensive med site in our links, and it's not listed there, either. So I used my favorite all-encompassing search engine. It seems to be pretty new, as in less than a year on the market, from what I can tell. As for experience, I've got doodly squat. Maybe even less than doodly squat. Perhaps someone else will pop in that has taken it, and can share their experience. With it being so new, I'd wonder how many others have tried it yet, though.

Just started Vimpat today, so I have nothing really to report. We"ll see how it goes.

Vimpat aka lacosamide, is an antiseizure medication, that was approved this year. It is in the same class of medications as Topamax - but doesn't mean it will make you feel like Topamax did.

Hang in there. Remember it may take up to three months to see a reduction in Migraine severity and frequency.
