Hi there. I've been on 25g lamictal since Feb 14th. At first had minor side effects - some headaches mainly - but over the last 4-5 days have felt increasingly woozy and dizzy with bad nausea in the mornings (and no, i'm not pregnant!!!). I take the meds at 8.00pm each night. I did see my GP about some random itchiness about 2 weeks ago but he was not concerned.
My question is....can side effects take this long to manifest? And those that are on lamictal...what dosage has been the one that works for you? The jury is out on whether or not this is actually doing anything for my migraine dizziness at the moment..... |

I think sometimes side effects can come on very late. I had to stop one med I was on after over 5 years because of sudden diarhhea.
As far a Lamictal, I can't say. I think we have some members here that take it, I hope they post soon. Deb [url=http://www.TickerFactory.com/] |

Side effects really can start at any point that you're taking a med. Most commonly they occur when you first start a med or when you change dosage, but they really can happen any time. I had been taking verapamil for about 2 months, at an increased dose for 4 weeks, when all of a sudden I had some awful side effects. They were bad enough that I tapered off of it in about a week.
I've never taken Lamictal, but I can tell you that dosages do vary from person to person. We do have some members here who have taken it, so hopefully they'll post here soon. I definitely believe that sometimes side effects take a long time to pop up in some cases. I've got something in my med regimen that sometimes makes me queasy about twenty minutes after I take it. This came out of the blue one day, and now happens once in a while. I've never figured out which med it is, but whichever one is doing it I took for several years before this ever happened.

I've been on Lamictal for several years. I'm now taking 400mg in the morning and 400mg at bedtime. I tried increasing to 850mg a day, but I started getting increased headaches and other side effects. But I'm OK at 800mg.
I had some severe dizziness (as in falling) several months ago, but we think it was the Flexeril I was taking 3 times a day. The episodes went away after I stopped the Flexeril. My mood improved, but my head got worse. I had one bad episode a couple of weeks ago -- It came on suddenly when I bent down to scoop poop on Sparky's walk. We were only across the street, but I fell 4 times before I could get him home. I think it was probably a combination of Lyrica, which is a new med for me, and the martinis I had the night before. I don't think the Lamictal had anything to do with it. Gretchen in Mississippi |
