My doctor gave me two samples of Migranal nasal spray. I am on Topamax and my visual aura which has already been my reliable companion these thirty years has diminished greatly. The two migraines I tried the Migranal with I could not say I even had a warning with my aura, just used it when the pain started. I did not get any relief with the Migranal samples.
So this morning I got a migraine and my visual aura was back big time and I used Imitrex, which helped as much as Imitrex helps me. I hurt for a few hours, better for a few, and now the pain is coming back but much less. So my question is...should I try the Migranal again if I am getting auras again and can catch them early? I need to fill the prescription which will cost me $40. But well worth it if it works, and a waste of money if it doesn't. My husband says whatever you think is best and honestly I just don't know anymore what to think. I feel like my dog chasing his tail. appt with doctor next wed june 11 thanks for your thoughts, lisa |

I've had mixed results with Migranal. Sometimes it works pretty great, but other times it doesn't do anything. There doesn't seem to be a happy medium with it in my experience.
Therefore, I'm inclined to lean toward suggesting you try it again. I hate the idea of you wasting $40, but it would be nice to know whether you can definitively rule it out or not. Another thought, could you perhaps get a couple more samples from your doctor? Hi Lisa,
I just wrote a SharePost about trying Relpax for the second time after it failed the first time. My co-pay is $40 too, so I totally understand. HEREis my SharePost. |

Considering that it's only a week until your appointment, could you wait that long? Perhaps you could ask for a couple more samples just to do the retry, and that might help to decide whether or not to fill the scrip for a larger amount.
Another idea might be to ask your doctor to write two prescriptions for Migrainal. The first he could write for just a couple of doses, with no refills. The second, he could write for a larger amount. That way, your trial run could be a lot cheaper, and you wouldn't have to have to feel like you have a pile of wasted meds. thank you for your help making this decision. I am going to wait to fill this prescription. My migraine yesterday, two days after my last one wasn't too bad. Just trying to get through till Wed.
My big concern is next weekend we have an out of town baseball tournament, and the past two weeks have been two to three a week migraines a week. So hope the cycle is broken by our trip. I really am just to at a loss to what to do anymore. No matter what I eat, how well I sleep, how many things I say no to, they still keep coming... As always, thanks for listening. lisa |

I don't know if you have actually tried Migranal again yet, but I would be interested to know how it turned out for you. I tried two samples from my doc and they worked great, but they made me extremely nauseated for the first hour after I took it. I guess I just wanted to caution you and was curious to see how your second go round turned out.
