Hey guys,

I thought I would share about my appointment at DHC yesterday. It has now been four weeks since I have been out of the hospital. I had shared with you all that I didn't see any improvement and was having a hard time.

When I went in to see doc, I told him that something had to change. That after all my hospital stays and meds, I shouldn't still be dealing with this much pain. He did agree and said he was getting frustrated too. But he is really confident in the Nardil that he gave me, so he increased the dose. He said that since I don't respond to the typical preventatives, this one should do the trick. I guess it helps with refractory migraines.

Since I hadn't been responding to my abortives and getting in those long cycles I couldn't break. He gave me a rescue med. Lorcet, i think. The clinic doesn't usually give out narcotics, but he realized that I can go through all of my abortives and still be bad. They are limited and only for those emergency type situations. But I don't like to use the narcotics, so I rarely will.

I was on day 7 of that migraine when I went to see him. He made all of the adjustments and then gave me a dolophine and phenergine shot. It really helped my pain somehow. I don't know how that could have broken my pain, but my migraine was gone very quickly. I still have the baseline headache, but I still feel great compared to usual. My pain is only a 4!!! Thumbs Up I can't even remember the last time I felt like this! I am so thankful!

I hope it lasts for a little while. But even if it doesn't, I still had this wonderful break I needed! Now I just need to start responding to the meds......

Oooh, Alaura, I'm so glad for the break in pain even if it's not 100%. I was worried about you! It sounds like you have a really great doctor over there, I'm so happy for you so here it is...the Happy Dance with and Extra Wiggle, just for you!

I'm so glad to hear the doc was able to break your migraine. Even if you still have base level pain, it's better than being at an 8 or 9 all the time. I hope the increase in your meds will help. And it's nice to have a back up plan for rescue even though none of us are too thrilled with narcotics.
