Has anyone tried this? My SIL is the DON at a surgery center. One of her patient's grandfather had the cartilage that would cover the hole in the ear pierced. He ended up telling her about it.

He said he was in an industrial accident and had a bolt go into his cheek. Afterward he had dibilitating migraines. He did some research and decided to try this after nothing was working for him and this works.

First I had heard of it and wondered if anyone had tried it. My husband (very conservative) wanted me to research it and if I was okay with it give it a try.

She referred to it as acupressure but after a lot of looking I think ear stapling is what it is.

It is also used for weight loss which I definitely do NOT need.

So, any experience?

Thanks

Mary

Mary,

I Googled it. It sounds very interesting. It's relatively inexpensive, but does seem to have a high infection rate (20% according to one media report.)

Still, I'm planning on talking this one over with my PCP and my neuro!

Hi,

Can't say I've heard of this one yet. I did a bit of research on it.

Not sure how a staple in your ear will help with pain or food cravings, but I do understand the acupuncture, acupressure theory.

Don't know about ear stapling but I can tell you this about acupressure/acupuncture: I've lost 12 more pounds since I started working on my spleen meridian through energy medicine (energy medicine utilizes many acupressure/acupuncture techniques). My appetite has diminished and it seems like I'm processing food better.

Aren't there meridian endpoints in the cartilage in your outer ear?

My MIL had her ear stapled. She got nothing more than an infection from it...

I have my tragus pierced (that's the cartilage they use in the ear stapling from seeing my MIL's ear), and I can tell you, it's for decoration only...There is a hoop through it. They also do vertical tragus piercings, akin to what the acupressure staple looks like.

I'm skeptical about that the tragus being a sound acupressure point. I can tell you after being pierced there I definitely have had no weight loss nor diminished Migraines. I don't know what acupuncture staples are made out of but pressing anything like that into your ear, if not made from titanium or 316LV stainless steel, and cleaned regularly is just asking for an infection.

Be careful!

I've got 6 holes in my ears, what's one more. And if I can also put jewlery in it all the better AND lose weight really there is no down side to this. And if it doesn't work I've got the jewlery.

Send me the info.

The best thing I've done for my health this year has been Donna Eden's The Energy Medicine Kit (available from her site too www.innersource.net )

NOTE: ALWAYS sift everything through your belief system. This kit comes with a cut-glass crystal, but the kit works beautifully without any work with that crystal at all. I use a rutilated quartz wand for the sort of work she uses the glass crystal for.

It has a 5-minute energy routine that addresses the spleen meridian amongst other things. I add massaging the spleen points on the side of my body (about 4 inches below the arm pit, or about where the bra hits) to the 5-minute routine just to aid assimilation and metabolism. There are several things I've added like her CFS-pump technique and her triple-burner over-the-ear calming technique. They help brain fog and pain marvelously. Now sure, I have to repeat them throughout the day, but that goes to show that Migraine is NOT an energy problem. Migraine is a genetic, full-body disease.

My blood sugar has been more stable (I'm not diabetic but have a STRONG family history as well has having had a 9 lb 2 0z child), I no longer have the chocolate cravings that have been with me since childhood, and the neurolymphatic massage keeps my colon going with no problems.

Really, if anyone wants to read more, I've got the second of my crystals and energy medicine articles up on my blog. Please let me know your thoughts.

I wouldn't dream of pretending that everyone has the energy problems that I have. And neither crystal therapy nor energy medicine are a cure for Migraine or Meniere's. They've given me an edge, improved my overall health (but slowly! Neither crystals nor energy medicine make huge overall health strides in any hurry), and make me feel better between attacks. And I take less rescue medicine.

Heck, people have called me an energy vampire--really, I wouldn't wish my energy problems on anyone. But, crystals and energy medicine are a huge contribution to my plan. Dr. Breathtakingly Arrogant was all in favor of my crystal work.

I started with The Energy Medicine Kit in the middle of July. It took a month for me to see significant results in my weight but it's falling off now. It took about 15 seconds for me to feel a good health difference overall.

Who knows? Maybe some day, when I get well, I'll study energy medicine and become a practitioner. Hair Raising

Imagine, a vampire energy healer... Devil

That is great MW!!!

I cannot for the life of me seem to lose my Amitriptyline weight. I've been watching what I eat for over a month now - and the darn scale has not even moved a pound! What gives!!!!

Maybe I should try acupressure! I've been interested anyway, and if it will help (possibly) in the weight area - I'm on it!

I've lost about 40-45 pounds this year. Much of that is because of the diet I'm keeping (gluten-free, dairy-free, among many other things), but I think the process was started with the acupuncture I was doing last year. My acupuncturist kept telling me I needed to lose weight and she would help. I won't attribute all of my weight loss to that, but I feel like maybe it did start the process and make it easier to lose.
