Has anyone ever tried aromatherapy to help their migraines? I find a combination of lavender, eucalyptus, and peppermint oil to be extremely helpful- I was wondering if anyone else has tried anything else.

Hi Helen..
I use peppermint oil alot, put a dab on my wrist or the backs of my hands, it helps if I am nauseated. I also found this great linen spray made with peppermint, and I spray my pillows at night before I go to bed! Love the smell and very refreshing. Just a few suggestions for ya! Take care Lori |

I'm a big fan of both lavender and peppermint. I have a "headache relief" oil stick that I use at night when I go to sleep (usually when my pain is the worst) that has peppermint, lavender and sweet almond oil. I also keep a stick at my desk at work, along with a lavender stress ball.
I use lavender body wash and hand lotion, the stuff from the Body Shop that's just lavender (nothing else mixed in there). I also keep peppermint and ginger Altoids stashed everywhere to help with my frequent nausea. I've found that tucking a peppermint Altoid all the way in the back top of my jaw sometimes helps with the jaw pain I get with my more severe migraines. There are a lot of lavender farms in the western half of my state, so it's not hard to find lavender products here. -MJ my blog: http://rhymeswithmigraine.blogspot.com "What will you do, if it does not turn out how you expect?" Regarding peppermint oil -- Please NEVER put it undiluted directly on the skin. According to aromatherapy experts, the only oil that can be put directly on the skin is lavender.
Also, peppermint oil shouldn't be used by pregnant women. ![]() Teri Robert Lead Expert, MyMigraineConnection terimmc@helpforheadaches.com
