Can anyone recommend a hypnotist in NYC? Or tell me how I go about finding a credible one?

I did google hypnosis. But would feel more comfortable if I could find a recommendation. Thanks!

I don't have any specific recommendations, but perhaps this will help?

Did anyone see Monk last friday? He was hypnotized back to being 9, before the "fear". It really was quite humorous. I was thinking maybe I could just go back to my 30's when my migraines were much more manageable....or being 9 for a day would be fun too. Anytime before migraines....

(I am in no way making fun of hynosis as an option, I was just thinking about Monk playing in the mud when I read this post)

I saw that episode, it was great! I love Monk!

I was hypnotized about 15 years ago to see if it would help with my migraines but it didn't work for me. However, it did leave a lasting impression upon me. While I was under, I was told to gently run my fingers through my hair on the left side of my temple where the pain is in order to "pull" the pain away. Now, when I'm in a lot of pain, I run my fingers through my hair. Big Grin

I LOVE Monk - the whole Friday night lineup actually. I'll miss it. I tried hypnosis once with my massage therapist. So I knew her and knew that her voice was very relaxing. But I didn't think I "went under" or into that quiet zone or whatever. I mean I heard the cars out on the road the whole time. I guess I felt a little more relaxed but she was trying to get me to make my arms and legs feel heavy then light enough to raise up - nada. (LOL! I know somewhere in there is a little ADHD inner child trying to come out!) She did give me other cues to help me feel more relaxed but unless I mentally told myself they would, they wouldn't naturally do it.

Anyways, it kind of surprised me Monk could be hypnotized since he's so anal retentive about everything but it was the funniest thing. I was laughing about all his antics. And being very happy my kids weren't watching! They love Monk, Psych and House repeats on the weekend. And they are uh, 9 year old boys.....

Diane,

My DD and I watch Monk and Psych every Friday night. She's also nine years old. We love it!! We're pretty bummed that we have to wait until January for new episodes.

I spoke to 2 hypnotists that I found online. Both said they've worked w/ people who have migraines before. It was clear that they weren't up on the latest medical research for migraines, so I wasn't so confident that they could help. I never get migraines because of stress or tension, so I think they're even less likely to help me. PLus it was expense ($150-$250 per session).
