Ok, well I know that acupuncture is done for many a things....Migraine and/or headaches included.
My question is, for those of you who have had acupuncture - can you pick more than one "thing" to have acupuncture for? I know it can supposidly help with quitting smoking and weight....can I pick to have acupuncture for smoking, weight and Migraine? I know it may sound silly but I was just wondering before I get there and make a fool of myself asking. I'd rather make a fool of myself asking you guys. I've never had it, but I don't see why it couldn't be done for multiple things at once. It is supposed to be all about restoring overall balance, which is all about overall good.
It's a lot like my chiro trip. I went to look into fixing the crackly, poppy mess that is my neck in the hopes that it clears the cognitive foggy groggies I get. I didn't go to address the migraines at all, but this chiro doc seems to think fixing the neck issue will help those immensely, too. And I didn't even have to ask about multiple issues. Acupuncture, like many kinds of Eastern medicine (and unlike most Western medicine), takes a very holistic approach to treatment. Meaning, the acupuncturist asks about all symptoms you may be having, related to Migraines or not, and treats the whole body at once.
My first acupuncturist treated me for weight loss, digestive issues, menstrual irregularity and insomnia in addition to my head pain. My current acupuncturist treats my IBS along with my Migraines; when I have bad menstrual cramps or insomnia, she treats those too. In other words, I would be surprised if your acupuncturist (if he or she is a good one) DIDN'T treat you holistically and only treated your Migraines. Be sure to mention that you want to quit smoking and lose weight at your first appointment, and I'm sure you can get treated for those too. -MJ my blog: http://rhymeswithmigraine.blogspot.com "What will you do, if it does not turn out how you expect?" Thanks guys!
I don't feel odd about asking for more than just Migraine treatment at one time.
