Hi,
At my next doctor's appt I am going to see a person to teach me Heartmath and I was just wondering if anyone has heard of this. Also, if it helped or not with your migraines. From my understanding it is a stress managment meditation type thing that involves regulating your heart, thereby lessening stress. I know that it uses a heart monitor and breathing techniques. Not much else. Since my b/p rises everytime I get a migraine, I thought it can't hurt to try this technique. I would love to know if anyone else has heard of this. Thanks Dar |

Keep us posted? basilar-type migraine, MAV, BPPV, migraine with and without aura, cluster headaches, but no tension headaches! W00t! |

Yeah, it does sound like a type of bio-feedback, now that I think of it. I have never done any type of bio-feedback, so I am interested to see how it all works. I will let you know how it goes. I don't go until the 9th of Sept. Have any of you done bio-feedback? Did it help at all? just curious |

i've done it, and it helped to relax me.......every lil bit tends to help in some way or another...by reducing stress it could reduce your migraines...or at least turn down the volume....if it helps your migraines, then do a happy dance

Hi All,
I just wanted to check in and let you know I finally got started with the heartmath. We were right, it is bio-feedback. It is used to lower stress and control breathing. Basically, I was hooked to a computer by a heart monitor on my ear. Then it measured my psychophysoilogical coherence, ie mind, body, and emotional changes (which at the beginning wasn't very good). After you are hooked in sort speaking, you focus on you heart, then breathing using rythemes and waves on the computer. Then you focus on happy thoughts. It was pretty interesting to watch at the end my heart rate was down and I was more in coherence. I know have to check with my insurance to see how many sessions I can go to. She also does other biofeedback methods and is a liscense MF counsler, so all in all I am willing to give it a try. I am hoping it will help me lower my b/p when I get my migraines and maybe handle the pain easier. Well, there you have it |
