I have read your book and took it to heart, but am still searching for more to give me strength to continue this battle. I have gone to a new doctor, tried a new abortive which did nothing, got off the excedrin which of course triggered rebound and now a 3 day terrible migraine like many of my "worst ever" ones with twists too. I am a strong person but not sure I can continue battling these. I like the forum but am not one to use it much, as I am a private person, but and am wondering where else to turn-inspirational, spiritual, ways to persevere through this pain I have no hope someone will find a way to control. Books to read any ideas might help. Finding light in a dark tunnel. LK

Hi lk
I'm sure Teri will be along soon, but I wanted to give you some support here if I may. Please contact your doctor about this "3 day terrible migraine." When we have Migraine pain lasting longer than 72 hours, without a four-hour, pain-free break while awake it could be Status Migrainous and needs immediate medical attention. Click HERE for more info. I know it feels impossible to find relief, but there are many options available and finding the right doctor is key. I don't mean to sound like a broken record, but it is true. This LINK talks about preventives, (there are over 100!) and this LINK has our specialists. Teri has said many times that Dr. Young of the Jefferson Headache Clinic gave her her life back, and she traveled over eight hours to see him. This LINK has some supplemental information you may find helpful. You can also find Teri's treatment on this site as well. I hope this helps, hang in there and let me know if I can be of further assistance. |

Thanks, I have been in status more times than I can count over the years, and usually nothing helps but time and letting it finally fade. I did start decadron and by day 5, some relief, but it is still sitting here waiting to reemerge.I am tired of new drugs to try and did start with a new MD. He tried a new abortive which did nothing for me, and now a new preventative that I havent started yet. I think I am just tired of this battle, and wishing for divine intervention to give me a break. LK,
I'm praying for you. I understand what you are going through. This is a long, dark tunnel we travel. We travel it together, though. Please, don't feel as though you have to post or respond to posts. Please, also know that we will all "root" for you. "Just so's you knows," it's taken me about 10 years and 2 neurologists, plus my wonderful PCP, gynecologist, psychiatrists (who keep moving), and pharmacists to get some control over my migraines. I've even contemplated suicide, but the horrendus pain kept me from doing anything but crying. I did immediately tell the ER staff, or my doctors about my thoughts when the pain lessened. We'll all help, as much as you want us to. With love and blessings, Rebecca |

lk,
I wrote you a long post the other day, but it's not here. Darned glitches! Sorry about that. Support can be difficult. That's why this forum is so active. I've known a number of local support groups that have failed because people don't make it to the meetings. You know how it is. You plan to go somewhere. Then you either have a Migraine and can't go, or you feel well and there are things you have to get done. That's my best theory for why that kind of support group rarely works well. Some of us visit a psychologist or counselor for help with coping skills for dealing with this kind of disease. Others find support in church groups. Some of us have that one special friend or family member who really understands and is always there to support us. I know it's hard when you're a private person, but we're always here to support each other, so please post when you feel like it. Never worry about a post being too long or feeling like you're complaining. We all need to vent at times. Welcome! ![]() Teri Robert Lead Expert, MyMigraineConnection terimmc@helpforheadaches.com

Thanks for the ideas. I am on day nine of this migraine so faith that it will get better is not there. I am doing all the right things, got off the otc's, took decadron, started magnesium, tried an abortive I never tried, but no effect;just want painfree and drug free days, but they dont come. I have no abortive in my arsenal that works so nothing to turn to other than weathering the storm. I've emailed my new md, but not hopeful there is something out there, so if no response I wont push it. The head pain has to eventually end, and until then there is nothing else to do but what every working parent does, work and take care of the family. LK
