Hi,

I've been getting refractory migraines since December and nothing is helping. My meds have been changed, I've had a DHE infusion at Hopkins, etc. I'm so frustrated. On Friday, I "lost it." I actually lost my memory and can't remember HOURS. I had every test, a CT scan, x-rays, bloodwork, my urine tested, etc. in the ER and they kept me overnight. They say it is from the migraines and MAYBE from Topamax (I was taking 75 a.m. & p.m.). They're just not sure. I have no idea what to do now. They wanted to put me on Depakote, but I won't do it. I don't want to go on that drug. Any advice?? The neuro mentioned Botox. Has anyone been helped by that? I really need help. I'm scared I'll lose my memory again, but they don't think that will happen. I'm weaning off the Topamax and the global transient amnesia rarely happens twice...ugh. Has ANYONE had this happen to them?

Kim

Hi Kim,

First let me apologize for not answering you sooner. Second, I'm going to move your question into the New members folder so more people will be able to see it.

Now, I have to take care of some forum business. When you get a minute take a look at the START HERE folder to read the guidelines for a fun and safe forum experience. We also have lots of information on Migraines and headaches in our Learning About Migraines and Headaches - Where To Start folder.

Living in York, PA makes you very lucky! There is an awesome Migraine specialist in Philly, The Jefferson Headache Center and at this point I think it may be just what you need.
