Hi Teri,

I hope you are having a nice new year. I was wondering after reading this article, is there something that we should be looking for when we get our headaches that would indicate that we might be having a stroke? I.E., this article made me feel a little nervous that someday I may be having a bad migraine and not realize that I am having a stroke....

Any thoughts?

Thanks, Sara

Sara,

This can be difficult for some Migraineurs because Migraine and stroke symptoms can be very similar.

If you have a Migraine or what you think is a Migraine, and it's the worst you've ever had, you should always call your doctor.

If neurological symptoms such as numbness, tingling, difficulty speaking, etc., linger after the Migraine is over, check with your doctor.

If you have new symptoms that are frightening, check with your doctor.

Statistically, symptoms are less likely to be a stroke than a Migraine. That said, we don't want to take chances. If you're in doubt, call your doctor.

Does that help?
