Can you help me determin if this is a normal type of migraine. I still have it so I will just give the bare facts.
Last 4 days it has been 100+ degrees outside, I stayed in mostly.
I rate miine from 1 -3. 3 being worst. Wed, I got a 1, thurs. 2 then 3. Started in top right skull then moved down face and right shoulder.Thursday evertime I tried to get up I got sick. Took Frova and nausia pill and it left. Fri morning I had severe LEFT shoulder pain radiating up thru my scull basse, into left face. Fri Eve I felt better like I normally do when one leaving for good. Normally I have right sided pain. However I have had it everywhere.
For some reason last night I could not sleep and finally at 12 am just got up. No headache until 6am when it felt like someone bashed my forehead in. it went from bad to worse than i can ever remember having. 2 times in the past I have had what I think were cluster migraine. I am leary of taking too much meds so I took 2 vicodin when I could not stand it any longer. The weird thing is it moved from front right between my eyes over above my right eye then up back where I had it the other day. . It literally circled my head. At one point I think I passed out from the pain because it stopped then hit me again like a hammer.
It did ease up but now I have to lay down. It is Sat. 9am west coast time. Please write as soon as you can as I need info.

Bev,

Sorry, but nobody is qualified to diagnose via the Internet, not even doctors.

I think you know what I'm going to say -- When we have different and / or frightening symptoms, we need to call our doctors.

This could be Migraine, but I could also be heat stroke, or it could also be any one a hundred other things. You need to see your doctor.

Oh, and there's no such thing as "cluster Migraines," so I'm not sure what you're talking about there.

See your doctor, Bev!

The generally long periods of time between my Migraines are the result of working with a Migraine specialist to refine my preventive regimen. You can see my current regimen HERE.

Thanks, If there is no cluster then mabey Fredrick got cramps.
On fri I called my GP and told her about migraine she called in vicodin. I took 2 fri night and 4 total Sat. am. not all at once. That was like taking nothing, so at noon I went to clinic.
I went go to our local urgent care and got an Iv with toradol, compazine and 2 others I do not remember names. She said one was for nervs.and I think the other one was phenagrin. I am not sure if that is nausia or pain.
I went at noon and came home and was completley knocked out until 4 am this morning. I woke up briefly at 6pm and 8pm and pain was gone. This morning though, it is threatening. Shoulder hurts and dull roar in head. My poor body with all of these meds. If I cannot get rid of it by staying in bed today I guess I will have to go to ER. which I will only do if I get dehydrated or am ready to kill fredrick. This is because of so many bad experiences there.
I am working with a nuerologist who is the same Dr. who saved my life after another nuero almost killed me in 2006-7.
This Nuero listened to me when I told him that the propranolol was causing me such bone pain in my arms I could not take anymore. He not only agreed but told me the same thing happened to him.
I am currently not on any preventatives as I have tried at least 2 meds out of every drug class of meds they use to prevent.
I think Dr. L wants to see how I do off of them. I am keeping a daily diary for him and writing down every pill I take so he can evaluate everything.
This is not a question just an interesting info for you.As I am hoping it will lead to some sort of answer for my migraines and hopefully help other people.

I am going on the 5th to get another sleep study because prior ones revealed that I have what they call Alpha intrusion. You are probably aware of what this is. When awake we have Alpha brain waves. As we decline int sleep we get Delta, and finally Theta waves and the alpha waves go away completly. This is your restorative deep sleep. Apparantly a smal percentage of people have their Alpha waves present when they are in the Delta theta stage of sleep. This is called Alpha intrusion, and evedintly I had a lot of them on both sleep studies. My nap study they said I fell asleep every time which is not normal either.
Anyhoo the Dr. said that there is a small percentage of people who have thees Alpha intrusions , but they do not know why. Usually they do not bother people. Dr. said that in the studies they have done, just in their lab, over the years they see 3 types of people with thes intrusions. They are Engeneer braniac types { lets fredric out} Chronic worriers {lets me out} and people with chronic pain { yohoo that us!!!!!]
Anyway My question to them after the sleep study will be, do I still have this alpha intrusion? could a medication I take or just something about the actuall migraine itself cause this?
Terri, It would be interesting to know how many of your migrine guests on this forum have had sleep studies and have this Alpha intrusion.
I constantly read and ask questions because I am 43 and my life stinks of Fredricks. I have even had to give up my job.
You know penecillin discoved accidentally. I think a answer to migraine will be too. After all is not reseach what finds cures? I consider we are doing research too. Keeping diaries avoiding foods, ect. It all goes into a data bank. Here we can share those and mabey get some answere. If only 1 or 2 benifit it is worth it. I am the non greedy type that knows I am not the one who has to benifit. If someonelse can I will be happy for them.
Here is another info. My father died of Parkensons and my mother has it. There are 5 children in our family and all but 1 have migraine. This is another research idea.
Thank you as always for answering my questions. Today if I cannot get up I will try to read some more here on Meds for preventatives and types of migranes, and new articles. This site has been so helpful to me, I cannot thank you all enough.
