Good Morning,
Terri or Nancy I have read that about anti depression meds. I am taking Cymbalta with Migraine meds. I wanted to know what exactly is co-morbid condition? My second question is my doctor has okay me to take Magnesium as a supplement. How long before I see results from the supplement? Oh and one more. . . my doctor wants me to take my Relpax only twice a week and I still after 3 months I still have migranines 5 days out of 7. She is aware of this and only prescribes 9 tables. What other things can I do for the pain other than the non- med types of things? The migraines I have get very server.(1-10 a 9 or 10) Dutchess p092008224226[1].JPG |

Hi there,
A co-morbid condition is when two conditions occur at the same time but are not caused by one another. Migraine and depression often occur together, but do not cause one another. Does that make sense? It can take up to three months for new medications and supplements to start working and we see a reduction in our Migraine frequency and severity. It may feel like a long time, but it will be well worth it if it works. NOW - on to the Relpax. Careful of medication overuse headache (MOH)! This may happen when we take certain meds like triptans or other prescriptions and OTC's more than 2-3 days week. 5 days of Migraine is still too many. Is it time for a new doctor?? If your doctor isn’t able to help you, it may well be time to consult a Migraine and headache specialist. It’s important to note that neurologists aren’t necessarily Migraine and headache specialists. Take a look at the article Migraine and Headache Specialists - What's So Special?. If you need help finding a Migraine specialist, check our listing of Patient Recommended Migraine and Headache Specialists. |

Thank you Nancy,
I did concider a new doctor, but it's such a hassle. I need to do something for the good of my health. It's just that some days I don't take anything for my head. Just because of the MOH. At the same time I need some relief to last longer and less attacks. Just having a hard time dealing with all this stuff about migraines. All the info I have learned here has been overwhilming. I was one of those people who said it's just a bad headache. Now I have them. Dutchess p092008224226[1].JPG |

Oh, I know sweetie, really I do.
Learning we have a chronic condition like MIgraine disease is no fun. Accepting that we may have to live with it the rest of our lives is an entire different matter. It takes time, so you need to give yourself a break. Baby steps every day. This information is overwhelming. It has taken me years to learn about this disease and I continue to learn every day. I also know what trouble it is to find a new doctor, but you ARE worth it, it is up to you to have the best health care team to work with. Just think how much better you will feel if you have fewer Migraine days!! Hang in there, we are here for you! |
