Teri---Sorry that I never got back to you. I have been really busy with work. Plus I thought I had gotten rid of my Migraines. Which for fact, I didn't completely.

My Migraine came back last Sunday. It was so bad, I put ice packs on the back of my head all day and stayed in bed. It hasn't gotten really much better. I have to still work. But, fortunately I was able to change my location for work now. They finally sent me home in Oct. to be able to do my job from home. It is a lot nicer. I can say that no more wearing my sunglasses in the office all the time due to the florscent lighting in the office building. After living with Migraines since last December I started learning all the tricks of trying to control the migraine triggers. Plus what to, when I am unable to control the pain.

I still haven't found a doctor that is right for me yet. I am still working on that one.

Oh, I was told by my supervisor at work that everyone has migraines and that I should live with it. Not be such a whiner. I notified HR immediately to my situation with my supervisor over me.(I think this was a long time coming) They contacted the office Bus.M immediately. I was changed to another supervisor immediately due to her remarks and because they felt that she was not being sensitive to my health. Since then, as you have already read. The Bus.M finally felt it was better to let me go home and work from home to keep me employed.

I do have a question for you though. Do you know of any remedies to keeping the stress down? I have noticed more when I am working even here at home now my temper and moods change with the migraine striking. Before I was able to relax between the calls coming in. Now they are back to back for the job that I do. I have no way of relieving the stress which spikes my headache even worse.

This is the last trigger that I have noticed that I can't control.

Sincerely,
Tracy

Hi Tracy,

I'm not Teri, but thought I would say a few words if that is ok?

There is plenty of controversy about stress triggering a Migraine attack. Many Migraine specialists now think stress makes us more susceptible to our triggers, rather than actually triggering a Migraine attack. If we experience more then normal negative stress work (deadlines, too much traveling, or are just overloaded)and our home life is stressfull (sick children, bad relationships, etc)then we may be more susceptible to our triggers. These triggers can include poor sleep quality, certain foods, dehydration and weather changes like you mentioned. This podcast Teri did may be helpful: Is Stress a Migraine Trigger?

Learning how to say "no" may be a really important step in reducing ones stress level. Always saying "yes" to everyone else, and not having time for you only "stresses us out" more.

Some people use biofeedback, massage or other complementary therapies to help reduce the stress in their lives. Others still find talking with a friend, priest or counselor helpful too. Migrain disease is a genetic neurologic condition. A chronic condition. That takes some time to get used to. It doesn't mean we can't lead full normal lives, it just means we have to work a little harder to!

Let me know what you think, and if I helped,ok?
