At the risk of wrath for posting another article, I just found this WAY interesting... Helpless in Illinois |

WAY interesting is right! Maybe Teri will do an article about this. Lots of times these news releases just hit the lurid highlights. I did notice that they called it "migraine headache." We all know that Migraine is more than Just A Headache.
Thanks for surfing and finding this! Gretchen in Mississippi |

I've worked with children & young adults w/PTSD & many of them have neurological issues.
Couple things to keep in mind: Early trauma can alter brain wiring (especially sexual abuse) Repeated Physical abuse often results in head trauma, which might cause or trigger or exacerbate migraines. Young people who have history of trauma have difficulty interpreting signals in their body (over or under focus). Migraines are often comorbid with other neurological & some psychiatric conditions. Children with special needs are statistically more likely to be abused (due to poor fit of caregiver/child, misunderstanding of symptoms from caregiver, and medical/neurological or psychiatric conditions of parent, plus stress of raising a child with special needs, plus societal isssues, lack of support). "conversion disorder" in children with PTSD often results from misinterpreting body signals, poor verbal skills, difficulty regulating pain & symptoms fluctuate greatly. This should not be confused with neurological conditions that tend to be inconsistant Disruption of sleep due to thematic, repetitive dreams & thematic, repetative hallucinations (often the presence of a "threatening shadow")- poor sleep may be a trigger. |
