Things are actually going somewhat better as far as my migraines. I've managed to go a full week wtihout one-for the first time since Feb!

I had an appointment with my doc on Tues and he completely took me off the meds for my pituitary tumor. The labs were exactly what they were last year with only 1/2 dose every other day so apparently I don't need the meds any longer. I'm finally off them for the first time in 11 years. We're going to recheck labs in 2 months just to be sure. I can't tell you what a MAJOR victory that was!

We had a long discussion about my migraines. I took my diary to show him what I was tracking and he was quite impressed. I was able to show him that it took a dose of toradol to get them to go completely away. I'm having better results with Maxalt than I was with Frova, even though they sometimes come back. He FINALLY ok'd me to take a second dose if necessary 2 hrs after the first. That is the first time he's EVER allowed me to do that. Normally, he has made me wait at least 8 hrs. I don't know why, but at least I don't have to wait any longer.

I have had to take 2 doses one day to get rid of a migraine that came back. About 1 hr after the second dose, I was so tired I could hardly move. Has anyone else experienced this? I wasn't sleepy, just absolutly worn out! It hit hard and fast, so I know it wasn't a post drome from the migraine. The second dose got rid of it, but I was a total zombie.

He also agreed to teach me how to give myself toradol injections and agreed that it was a good idea to take them with me on vacation. Our vacation has it's own set of stressers built in before we ever even leave and the thought of ending up in the ER for a shot just isn't what I need.

All in all, it was a really good appointment. He agreed that I'd ID'd some of the triggers for me and talked to me a lot about WHEN to take the maxalt and not to wait too late. I think that has been part of my problem. I feel much better now about managing the migraines until things settle down some in my life and we can see if I need a preventative or not.

I wish I could say I've made it another week with no migraine, but no such luck. Work has been a major stresser this week and DH(not so "D" right now) informed me last weekend that he was tired of being married. We've not been having problems or anything-just wammo. We were up all night for 2 nights trying to figure out what was going on. We're working on it and hopefully will work things out. Needless to say, combine that with work and 2 nights of just about straight crying, I had a DOOZIE on Wed. My boss is wonderful-he prayed with me and has spent a good bit of time every day talking to me and seeing if there was anything he could do to help. Just having someone to talk to helps. DH refuses to go to counceling, but I may go by myself. A lot came out that I can't just forget and move on. At least we're working on it. Please keep me in your prayers-both for the migraines AND DH (or just "H")

Lynn

Lynn,
I slipped in at work and happen to see this. I wondered where you have been. I'm happy on the one hand your doctor appointment went so well and that your migraine care is going better. That is a great relief.

I am so very sorry to hear what is going on with you and your H. Your right, drop the D for now. You are fortunate to have a caring boss at this time. You are right, if H will not go to counseling, go yourself. I have been pleased with how it can help me put my thoughts and emotions all together. Sometimes I haven't even really been clear on what the problem really was and a therapist has helped me figure it out. So please follow your instints and go for the counseling. Your boss knows you well and I'm sure can recommend a person you would work well with.

Lynn keep in touch. We're here for any support we can give you.

Well I'd like to say that it sounds like you had a great Dr. appointment and have some things to look forward to as far as new meds, off others.....

As far as the H situation....that plain stinks! I'm really sorry. I hope things work out and he sees the kind of things you are dealing with and doesn't take it personally. I know that can be a hard thing to get over, but get over it!

I think the counseling is a great idea. I think anyone can benefit from talking to someone with an outside opinion.

Know we are thinking of you and here for you if you need us.

Also, keep in mind that we have the "special support" folder if you need it.....just drop a line to Teri if you find you would like to use it for a little more privacy, just an option I wanted you to be aware of if you need it....

Thinking of you! Group Hug

I've been thinking about you, Lynn.

"Not be married anymore." With two children, a home and responsibilites does he really think that is an option. I know, I know, it is always an option, but seriously, I was re-reading your other posts......I think his friends need to kick his butt again.

Seeing a therapist may be the best thing you can do, even if H won't go. Learning coping strategies is important for our self perservation.

Hang in there..........

Hang in there. It sounds as though you are on the right track, both in your migraine management and in seeking some counseling, even if your H won't go with you right now. Yet it does sound as though the two of you are still trying to talk it out, so that's a positive there, too.

I'm sorry you wound up with such an awful migraine on top of the other awful things you've had to cope with. Hang in there.

Oh Lynn--

I've been working and just picked up on this thread. Know my prayers are with you at this most difficult time. I'm so glad you had a good doctor's appointment so at least you have a little more chance of controlling the migraine monster throughout all of this.

Seeing a counselor is truly something you need for yourself right now. Being able to talk with someone who can not only listen but help you understand what's going on and cope with whatever the outcome will be is one of the main tools you need right now.
