Migraines have ruined my life in so many ways.

I try not to think about my childhood and all the days I spent going home sick (at least twice a week during elementary school), all the times I had to leave a friend's house, and all the opportunities I turned down because I was terrified I would (and generally did) get sick. I wish so badly that I could have been more "normal."

I just hope that I can learn how to live a more painless life..

Welcome Denni!

The great thing about this forum is you learn you are not suffering alone! That was a big help to me. Although migraine is a lonely disease, we can come here and talk about it with each other because we all understand it!

Being here is a step in the right direction. Learning more about this disease we have and being our own advocate is the best advise we can give you. The more you learn, the better patient you will become, and the more you will know to help yourself.

Let us know if there is anything at all we can help you with ok?

We look forward to getting to know you! Big Grin

I have no idea who I could of become if I didn't have migraines.

All I know now is I feel stuck in my job because of my migraines. I feel like no other employee will want me with my history of time off & the fact I take pain killers at work.

I always miss out on social engagements because of them & then find myself using them as an excuse for outings that I don't wish to attend.

I feel stuck in a rut with them & unfortunately everything seems to revolve around them.

I always feel I would of been a much happier person to be around as well without them

Lots of people think of migraines like it's a simple headache. When I say I can't make it to things because of an exsisting migraine or because I'm avoiding terrible triggers....people look at me like I'm lying or I'm a whimp. I've had people say that they have a great pain tolerance and their migraines are easy to deal with. All I can say is there is NO WAY they're having migraines! Also, most people don't have a clue about all the neurological symptoms that come along with migraines. Not remembering the name of your own husband, blindness, numbness, weakness, vertigo and speech problems are scary to me!
