I've been waking up daily with a headache. I suspect it's migraine related due to the dizziness I experience too. Thing is, is subsides with and without meds and then BAM! It hits me again in the afternoon.
This is messing me up at work because I call in a lot...I do have FMLA but not sure that'll help since the company keeps laying off. I definitely can't drive some times, but like today it was really a head banger!!! But now a few hours later I do feel some relief. Although I called in already, I'm considering going in now (half a day maybe) but I just don't know if it'll come back worse! I'm feeling very stressed at this point! |

I used to have the same exact problem! I woke up almost every day with either a full blown Migraine, or the beginnings of one.
After I saw my Specialist, he explained how important a good night's sleep is to a Migrainuer. He recommended raising my mattress about 5-7 inches to alleviate some of the pressure in my head and since I also trigger from changes in the barometric pressure, he prescribed Diamox. He also prescribed Zanaflex to help me sleep at night. You can take a look at these for more information about the importance of sleep: • Transformed Migraine Related To Sleep Problems • Migraines, Headaches, and Sleep Another thing to ask your doctor about is Zomig. It comes in a nasal spray and that's what I use when I wake up with a Migraine already brewing. It works really fast on aborting that Migraine! Laura Forum Moderator |

Hello!
I just welcomed you in the other folder, but you can never feel too welcome, right? I used to have the same issue and sometimes still do. I noticed it less when I was on Zanaflex - but my doctor switched me to Soma to hopefully help me sleep better. So far, I think I liked the Zanaflex better. You may also want to check some of the side effects on any of the medications you take. I know for me, it says on my Soma, yep, the one to help me sleep, "may cause headache". I think it also says it on my Zofran, and also on Ultram, which I used to take. It could be just not enough or enough rested sleep, it could be triggers, stackable triggers....a many number of things. Trust me, I know how annoying this is! I would wake up every morning with a headache that really did feel like a Migraine. But, if I waited until I showered and got ready to go to work, it would be gone without the help of medication. Don't get me wrong, sometimes medication could not be avoided, but I could usually tell the difference in these headaches and/or Migraines before waiting too long. I also wonder how much our diets may play into this too. I notice that this headache would start more when I had a bunch of salt the day before. Not to mention how bad it was when my eating habits were not so great. Have you talked to your doctor about this? As Laura said, s/he may be able to help you. Keep us posted and let us know how you are doing! I just had an appointment with a new doctor yesterday and I didn't want to overwhelm him with everything. I was thrilled that he gave me 30 minutes of is time!
But I'll have another appointment soon because I had some blood tests that keep showing elevated liver enzymes. They think it meds related so I've had to stop Topamax which might have been starting to work. However, I know I don't sleep well. I wake up early each morning between 4 and 6 and stay woke for what seems to be forever. Before finally waking up when my alarm goes off at 7:30. So that could be the culprit. |

Welcome to the Forum Family!!!
It may very well be disrupted sleep. I know that is BIG trigger for almost all of us. If not a single trigger, it's a big one on the stack. Perhaps your doc can give you something to help you sleep through the night? I nevere had an issue sleeping through, but I had trouble falling asleep so one of my neuro's gave me Klonapin/Clonazapam to help me wind down. I know some of our members take a mild muscle relaxer (Skelaxin, Flexeril) for sleep issues. Oh, and don't worry about "overwhelming" your doc. He works for YOU. Take your sweet time in his office and ask every quesiton you have. I like to keep a list in my migraine diary of things I think of along the way.... Good luck! |

I'm like that almost everyday. I wake up with head pain that increases while I get ready and head off to work. Sometimes it subsides mid-morning (but doesn't completely go away) and the flares back up by mid-afternoon. Not fun.
Like Laura and Eileen I was on Zanaflex for awhile. The low dose wasn't strong enough and the higher the dose got for me the worse the side effects were. So I stopped taking that. My new neurologist just gave me Robaxin yesterday, so we're going to give that a try. I know I have a hard time sleeping through the night, and I have a hard time falling asleep sometimes, like Kelly. And waking up at night almost always leads to an unpleasant morning of misery for me. Meli |

My neuro doc had the nerve (no pun intended!) to retire on me. I miss him, because he always took all of my concerns seriously and gave me the time I needed at every appointment. Still, like you, there were times when I didn't want to overwhelm him with too many things going on at once, which just seems to happen with multiple chronic ick that isn't playing nicely together. What I started doing was keeping an annotated list of concerns and questions. Right before my appointment, I'd star the biggie items I needed to address at the appointment. Then I made a copy for my neuro, and left it with him at the appointment. That way, he could look at the other stuff at his leisure, and if something made him think it might need addressing, he could contact me. He appreciated the effort, and it streamlined appointment time, too.
