I'm proud of you for making calls today. I really am!!!! What else did Dr. Roy say? Just no more Maxalt and see another Dr.?

Well at least she seems to be able to admit that you would be better treated by a headache specialist, that's hard for some doctors to do!

I DID call a lot of places... today, as well - getting more info about the appt. set up for April 14th, in Houston...

You're right - I wasn't thinking - 3 weeks is NOT that far away... I was just SO frustrated yesterday...

Dr. Roy didn't do a whole lot... she DID order I get an EEG, so that's scheduled next week (Tuesday, I believe), told me to NOT take Maxalt anymore, and referred me Dr. Mathews, in Houston. Yeah - I was VERY shocked she referred me to another doc! She was very nice when I saw her... Smiler

Thanks so much for all of your words of support (everyone else, too!)

I just wanted to make another post, to thank everyone else who's responded. Smiler

You guys are SO supportive, and, espcially now, I really do need that.

My father lives in Houston - so, he's taking the day off of work, to go w/ me to the appt. (I get lost SO EASILY in Houston, when I'm driving!).

Today's my 2 year wedding anniversary, so I'm going to try to get stuff done while my husband's at work... I feel really guilty me NOT having a job, right now... I know he understands why I'm NOT working anywhere, but - I still don't like it, you know?

Anyway, thanks again so much to EVERYONE for all of the kind words... you guys all rock! Smiler

Thanks, Eileen! Smiler

Today I go for an EEG... 2:30pm.

I've been doing alright... although, last Friday I had a MAJOR migraine headache - and, I actually vomited from it - that's NEVER happened to me, before. Frowner The headache started mild, around 1pm, and just kind of increased throughout the day, and I got sick around 10pm, w/ my head just KILLING me.

Since then, though, I've been alright... Smiler

I'll keep you guys posted! Smiler

My last neuro appt. w/ Dr. Roy - she DID tell me not to take Maxalt, until I see the other neuro in Houston, and see what he decides (I see him April 14th)...

I haven't been taking Maxalt, except I did HAVE TO last Friday (see my above post about how bad my migraine was that day)... I didn't have anything else to take, to relieve me... the only other pill I have from Dr. Roy is Midrin, and it honestly doesn't seem to work that well when I have a BAD migraine... Frowner

hello, i'm new to the whole "basilar migraine thing" as my doctors still aren't 100% sure that's what it really is. i was just wondering how many times you get your basilar migraines? i know Elizabeth mentioned 2 1/2 months (at least that's what she thought) and any idea how many people are suffering from basilar migraines?

Hello, kelsie, welcome to the forum. We're glad you found us.

I "just" have garden-variety migraine without aura myself, but we have several forum members with basilar migraines, and I hope they will be along to share their experiences soon. As with other types of migraines, however, I'm sure frequency varies from person to person. Here is some info about basilar migraines:

Basilar-Type Migraine - The Basics

Do you see a headache/migraine specialist? If there's a possibility you have basilar migraines, it would be a good idea to seek out a migraine specialist. Other doctors may not ever have seen another case of basilar migraines. Here is a list of migraine specialists:

Patient Recommended Migraine and Headache Specialists

Welcome again. Feel free to ask questions. Someone will help you find an answer, if one exists.

Hi, do you get dizzy spells and feel sick with your migraines prior to your headaches? I don't know just what is wrong with me. Thanks, Judy

Hi, Judy, and welcome to the forum! When you get a minute, please check out our Start Here folder, which has info on navigating and getting the most out of the forum.

I think you'll find as you read that lots of us might get a bit dizzy or feel sick before a migraine hits. It can all be part of the process. Here's a link to the different parts of a migraine to get you started...

I sure feel sick before my migraines hit. I sometimes wonder if I have the flu...but then it turns out to be a migraine. This last week I had vertigo and nausea for a couple days...then I got the visual aura and developed a full-blown migraine.

What's so frustrating is that you can feel sick for many days in a row... Frowner
