Hi,
I'm new here- have been with some sort of headache for the past ten weeks. I've had CT scans and an MRI- both clear.I've seen a neurologist who first diagnosed me with cluster headaches and then said it was a transformed migraine. Unfortunately, he failed to address the fact I was taking tylenol most evenings to fall asleep so after research, it looks like this long headache cycle could now be rebound headaches.

So, for four weeks, I've been on Verapamil-now at 240mg and I've been off tylenol for 10 days. The problem is, I have completely lost all appetite and any interest in food. This is accompanied by periodic vomiting.

My headache is greatly reduced but I am very concerned about the loss of appetite and vomiting.

Any idea of what could be going on would be greatly appreciated!

Hi, Maureen. A very warm welcome to the forum. We're glad you found us.

We are not doctors, and even if we were, we could not diagnose you over the internet. That said, taking Tylenol on a daily basis could easily lead to Medication Overuse Headaches (rebound). See this article for more info:

Medication Overuse Headache - When the Remedy Backfires

It sounds as though you need to be seeing a migraine/headache specialist. A doctor who specializes in migraines and headaches is going to be in the best position to help you at this point. See this list:

Patient Recommended Migraine and Headache Specialists

Do you mean that your head pain has been continuous and unremitting for that length of time? If it is, in fact, migraine pain, it's a medical emergency. To help determine if it's migraine, some people put their head between their knees. If that movement increases the pain, it's probably migraine. That actually doesn't work for me. I get up and take a few steps, and if it's migraine, the pain increases at each footfall. In any event, if you suspect an unremitting migraine, get emergency attention right away. See this article:

Status Migrainous - The Basics

Last but not least, to jump-start your migraine education, take a look at this (AFTER your migraine is broken, if you suspect it's migraine pain):

Do you think it's from the headache/migraine or a reaction to the new medication or something else altogether? I'd put a call in to your doctor ASAP to fill him in on your symptoms and find out what he suggests.

And I definitely second the suggestion to find a headache specialist if you're not already seeing one. Not all neurologists are well equipped to treat migraine and headache disorder patients.
