I've had this migraine since teh end of March. Doctors have tried everything, and as you can see, I'm on quite a cocktail of drugs.

Today I can barely see it hurts so bad. I'm waiting for my neuro to call to tell me what to do. I cant take this anymore.

I need a hug.

current migraine regimine:

Zomig Nasal Spray 5 mg
Migranal 4 mg
Depakote 500 mg
Lexapro 20 mg
Lorazepam 1 mg
Indomethacin 25 mg
Zofran 4 mg

Momof2- Here's a hug for you Group Hug I am so sorry you're in so much pain. It sounds like you might need a trip to the ER or an IV treatment at your doctor's- whatever they suggest. Just hold on- I know it's so hard when you've been in pain so long, and can't think straight and everything seems hopeless- but it isn't! There WILL be an answer for you, and hope. Keep venting here and let us know what your doctor says! Group Hug

Valerie is right, keep venting. We are here. You are on quite the cocktail. You may need to call back again. Has the neuro discussed a plan for what to do in times like this before?

We are here for you momof2 Group Hug

Hi mom,

I can see you are worn down, with pain that long I would be too. But we have to find some way to break this Migraine cycle you are in.

I think I've already given you the link on Migraine preventives. And I see you are looking for new doctors in WI. It is a trial, we understand.

Status Migrainuous is also a problem for us, because it increases our risk of stroke. Anytime we have Migraine pain longer than 72 hours without a four-hour pain-free break while awake, may be Status Migrainous and needs medical attention right away. Here is more information Status Migrainous - The Basics

Some doctors use IV infusion therapy in their office to break a Migraine cycle. You can find that information HERE and HERE.

Give the doctor a call and see what he thinks of these options.

Hi momof2,

I empathize with your pain.

I recently went through status migranous for the past 3 weeks. A couple of ER trips, multiple doctor visits, yet the only thing that broke the cycle was Prednisone. If you can tolerate steroids, they can sometimes help to break the cycle.

I have still gotten a migraine everyday since. But thank G-d the cycle has broken.

Sending you healing thoughts,

MJ

I hope you've heard back from your neuro, and I hope he/she is willing to consider IV treatment. There comes a point where you have to throw in the towel for treating at home, and let the doctors take care of you with the more powerful stuff. I don't know if you've done that before, or how scary it is for you, but I can tell you that there's nothing like some IV fluids and meds for breaking up a really nasty one.

I know you feel like you can't cope anymore - but you actually are coping. You're reaching out for help, you're calling your doctor, you're posting here. You haven't given up yet.

Don't give up. We are all brave and resourceful people - and we get hopeless sometimes because the pain overwhelms us. You can do this. I know you can.

I send you all my good wishes, and I will say a blessing for you right now. There it went. I hope it reaches you.

Hang in there, mom! I certainly can relate - I have been positively suicidal at points, but try to remember that eventually your migraine will break. I know sometimes when you are in pain it seems like it will never end, but it will. Don't be afraid to be assertive with your physician, either! Many physicians undertreat pain, so you might have to be a bit more aggressive in order to get the treatment you need.
Remember: it's always darkest before the dawn.
Wait, what is that supposed to mean, anyway? That doesn't make a bit of sense - it's always darkest at midnight, almost by definition! Smiler
So, remember: um, this too shall pass.

How are you feeling now? Is the Migraine still going?

Nancy gave you some excellent links. This Migraine really needs to be broken. What is your doctor saying about it?

Please check in and let us know how you're doing?
