I will be going back to my doctor next week. I know she will be asking for a lot of different blood tests to be done and I would like to make sure we cover as many as we should.

I think I've read that we should be tested for magnesium, vitamins D, B2, TSH, Free T3 and Free T4. Should those levels be tested? Do you know what other things we should be tested for?

I really appreciate your help!

I think you've just about covered them all, I really can't think of any other bloodwork that I've had done other than the thyroid you mentioned, my vitamin D and magnesium...I've had my iron checked and found out I was very anemic, but I had that test run because of other issues I was having.

Good luck and let us know how it goes, okay?

Good Luck

Thanks, Laura! Iron is always good to check too.

I felt like I was missing one or two items to check. This doctor runs so many more tests than previous doctors I've gone to that I like to have an idea of what to look out for and discuss with her.

It's never a bad idea to get a complete metabolic panel and perhaps a blood count, too. Those are pretty standard. I wouldn't be surprised if they get ordered, too.

I think everyone already mentioned the ones I could think of.....

I personally always have them check for diabetes since it runs on both sides of my family. That's just me though, since I am trying to prevent having it.....I have heard it skips generations, but I have it on both sides, mother and father, along with my grandmother on my mothers side. I guess I'm just being extra careful.

I was wondering about sugar too. But like you said, it's probably more of a personal choice. I have members of my family who run high and some that run low so as long as I'm getting a blood workup, I might as well get that tested as well.

By the way, I thought I read that you were going to Dr M on Wednesday. My appointment is with her first thing Wed morning.

Thanks for the great idea about the sugar testing.

Yep! My appointment was moved from Friday to Weds. I will be there at 4:40 p.m though, so no chance of running into you Frowner I make my appointments for as late as I can now, since I'm about an hour away and traffic stinks in the morning.

It used to not be that bad when I worked in Boonton, but now we are in Rockway (thank goodness! Much closer and no 287!)

Good luck with your appointment! Dr.M and I need to discuss going back to my Zanaflex or trying something else. The Norflex is not working.

Good Luck
