My question is ... Where can I find info about feeling like being in a fog. Since last night I have been feeling faint, light headed and very numb. I'm thinking it might be the weather. At the same time, I'm concerned about why can't get it together today.

I do know I won't be able to drive until then. I feel very very loopy and numb all over. Not sure if my doctor needs to know.

If these are new symptoms for you, then yes, report them to your doctor. If you have been having them for a while and haven't mentioned them, I would do so at the first opportunity.

Brain fog is pretty common in and out of a migraine attack. Sometimes during prodrome or postdrome, a migraineur may feel wiped out and very foggy. During an attack, the same can be said.

I can get quite stupid before and during my migraine attacks. I feel faint and dizzy with the majority of my attacks, but definitely talk to your doctor about your symptoms as he may be able to rule out other phenomena.

I've gone through numb periods too, but usually during the migraine and on the same side that the head pain is on. Sometimes I have numbness as an aura; around the face and lips and fingers particularly.

I've had more than an ample share of brain frog over the last near decade. It comes with the territory for thyroid disease, migraine, and fibro. When they all play together, the brain frog can be extra maddening. This is something that's come up on Mary Shomon's thyroid boards over at About many times, but while everyone commiserates, no one's really come up with much of a solution for dealing with it, other than to try and optimize and balance out whatever's going on with our health status. Most of the time, I consider this, along with the bone-numbing exhaustion that often accompanies it, to be the worst part of dealing with any of my icks. I wish I had answers. I'd share them in a heartbeat. Know, though, that you're not alone at all.

Dutchess,

I too have brain for - particularly during a migraine! I know that I've done some reading of research studies regarding "fibro for."'

Apparently, it is quite common for fibromyalgia, as well. I know some of my medicines also cause it. A few years ago they game me Provigil to try to offset it. I am currently trying Namenda to try to help with my memory issues.

If it inteferes with your ability to work or function, you might want to ask your doctor about it. I told my internist that I thought I had Alzheimer's - he laughed and said it was my age!! What a great 50th birthday present!! (Although I think he puts too much stock in my age since I've had these problems for years!)

Hi Dutchess,

I'll have to agree with the girls on all fronts, especially leeloo - if this is a newish symptom, then you must relay it to your doctor. In addition, if it has been going on a long time, that too must be relayed to the doc.

One other thought. Have we beat a dead horse over this? Are you feeling overwhelmed and foggy? Many times, like all the time lately, I am feeling quite overwhelmed with life and all it has to "offer." I am a big proponent of therapy, or talking with a pastor or friend or someone who can help us with the daily burden of things. Do you know what I mean?

Thank you Nancy,

I've been feeling like a dog lately. Talked with my pastor and I have a host of co workers and friends. But the kind words of my mom really helped a lot. I feel like tackling this problem again with a better insight. Never really like confrontations. Also don't like not feeling out of control into the unknown. I have to know what's going on.

Oh boy, do I hear you on that one! I hate not knowing... maybe it is more like understanding. I like to understand things. I am a very curious person by nature. I need to know why!
