"You should get a free estradiol and free testosterone level done (best between 8-10AM)."
I saw this in an "Ask The Clinician" post, when someone was inquiring about peri-menopause. I have reason to believe that I have a few problems related to fluctuating hormone levels and so I asked my GYN if he could test my levels. He asked me if I was still having a regular period. When I told him I was, he said that testing wouldn't tell me anything. Is this true? If not, where can I go to have these levels checked? Thanks So Much, ~Sandi~ **I posted this in the "Comments or Questions for Teri" forum, but wanted to post it here also. |

Hey Sandi -
There's a really good book called What Your Doctor May Not Tell You About Pre-Menopause - it lists doctors who work with hormone levels for women who are not actually on the very brink of menopause. I am lucky to have a doctor who understands that for many of us our hormone levels actually start dropping off in our late 30's, even though we may go one having periods for 10 years or more! I read the book and discussed it with my doctor about 5 years ago and have been working on regulating hormone levels since. He was very open to testing, etc. that might be a good place to start. - Megs Free our brains from migraine pain my blog: www.meganoltmanfreemybrain.typepad.com E-course on Managing Life with Migraine at www.takebackyourlifefrommigraine.com |

Thank you so much, Megan. I'll just have to add that book to my wooden arsenal of knowledge in the corner of my family room.
Blessings, Sandi |
