I don't know about y'all, but it sometimes seems just too easy to focus on how bad I feel, how down I'm feeling and how no-one gets me! Add to that the shorter days and colder weather, and it's just a recipe for depression! Head Banging

So my challenge is to see how long many entries we can get of things we can think of that make us happy or give us a reason to be glad to be us! Don't be shy - just list a few or a lot- and come back and do it as many times as you want.

I look forward to reading others for motivation and encouragement! Copying and cheating is allowed!! Big Grin

For today I am thankful for

- the sound of children laughing
- the warmth of my dog Marlie's body when she's cuddled up next to me
- singing praise songs at church
- the pansies that I saw last night
- finding Halloween candy for $1 at the dollar store
- having a friends who gets it without even having to say anything
- the people on this forum
- remembering how much my mother loved me

Who's next?????

Cyn

Awesome idea! I totally agree that sometimes we may focus on the "darker" side of things, rather than the happier side of things. So here goes:

Today I am thankful for:
- my family
- having both teens with me at the same time.
- a deep blue sky
- fabric
- the thought of not being in pain
- being able to pay the bills
- the two new buds on my already blooming orchid

Smiler I'm happier already! Thanks, Cyn

A new memory foam mattress is being delivered today
My back doesn't hurt

Yes, I agree, awesome idea, Cyn!

These are the things that I am always grateful for each and everyday;

My salvation in Jesus Christ and His love for me everyday.
My mother who taught me my faith and is my best friend as well as my mom.
My health, mainly 11 years of being a breast cancer survivor Thumbs Up
My best friend of 19 years, who has taught me so much about life and the Lord,
And her children who have been my substitute kids.
My home which has sheltered me and been so much comfort in these past 10 months.
My 30 year career as a flight attendant and all the wonderful people I met and places I saw.
My friends who have been there for me so many times!!!
The many freedoms we have in this country. I pray we do not lose them.

But today I am especially thankful for; Angel

This forum and the friends I have made thru it. It has been a lifeline!!! Thanx
The money to pay my bills
JUST BEING ALIVE!!! When so many others are fighting for their's!!

WOW! this IS the best medicine! Thanks,Cyn! Heart

I love this Cyn, it's very inspirational! It also makes me stop and appreciate the "little" things so I don't take them for granted.

Today I'm grateful for:

My family - My DH is wonderful and my three kids don't cause me any trouble, despite the fact that two of them are teenagers.

My new part-time job-I'm grateful that I have it in this awful economy but I'm also grateful that I found something I can manage even during a Migraine...full time, not so much just yet...but one day!

That I had such a super, outstanding dad. He lives on in my heart always.

Traffic to work was easy-peasy

My dogs-they stay by my side when I'm not feeling well and follow me everywhere.

This forum-without it I wouldn't have found Dr. K

Dinner is cooking in the crock pot

Swine Flu shots will be given at school

Today I am grateful for:

#1. No-sew hemming tape!!! I burned a big hole in my son's orchestra pants last night with the iron. (Found out multi-tasking doesn't go hand-in-hand with ironing...) To make matters worse he has a big concert tonight so no time to order new pants! The only thing I could think to do was try to patch it. I figured it couldn't look any worse than the hole!! So I cut a piece of material from the inside hem, used the tape to secure the patch and it worked like a charm!!! Luckily it's close to the bottom hem of his pants and you can hardly tell it's there. WHEW

#2. My very understanding and loving family (especially my son last night)

#3. Finding out that my daughter will be coming home from college next weekend for a visit.

#4. Waking up this morning and feeling better than I have in the past two weeks in spite of last night's stress...

My turn for the day!!! A bit more challenging as the beast came for a visit today, but all the more reason for celebrating the good things in life!

- the absolutely gorgeous Fiji apples I just bought

- to borrow from Laura - finding Dr. K through this forum!!!

- pictures of friend's adorable kids on Facebook

- doing work that I LOVE with people I LOVE!

- rescue meds! Razzer

- having the greatest dad, brother & sister still with me and a mom in heaven who I think about every single day of my life!

- okay, I know it's a repeat but when the sweet chin of my furry child is resting on my leg, like it is now, there is just no sweeter feeling!

Come on everyone! Share your happies with us - even if it is just one thing!! You have all blessed me so much by what you've shared!!! and made me think of even more blessings that I have!

Eileen & Kate in the Corner, you made me laugh when I read about the kitties - I'm sooo allergic, but my best friend has 15 cats and I know her cats help her be the wonderful person she is, so today I'm also grateful for cats!!! achoo!!!

Whoops - I must be grateful for something off-beat as I just got censored!!

So until my post is posted - I'll be grateful for a forum where I don't have to worry about profanity, off-color discussions or harrassment!!

Thanks Moderators!
