Hi yall! Just got back from a pretty successful neuro appt. with TJ.
He decided that the Migrelief he had Trystin on for preventative was having 0 effect, and gave me the option of putting him on a prescription preventative or trying one last herbal preventative called Petadolex. Its Butterbur and made in Germany. I am all for natural before drugs with nasty side effects, so I chose the Petadolex despite the fact my ins. doesnt cover it.
Fingers Crossed that it works!!

Best of all, we got a rescue emergency treatment plan in place today too, in case TJ gets into another status mig! YEAA no more messing around! if his maxalt dont work after the 2nd dose we go straight to nurse treatment room or urgent care for IV's!! His neuro says its not that common for him to have to put an 11 year old on a rescue plan. he says They usually dont go status this young. He thinks as TJ is getting older his migs are changing and harder to treat, and the chances of going status are getting higher. So he placed standing orders and gave me a printout of them.

He wants to keep TJ on the maxalt for now, since he usually has been getting relief even though we often have to go to the 2nd dose. He wants to keep it the same right now I think mostly because we are changing preventatives. That and he just upped the dose in Sept and he wants to see if this status mig was a one time thing, or if the Maxalt has truly stopped working for TJ. Hate seeing my kid have to go thru these trial meds phases but I know it will be worth it in the long run.

Have a great mig free day yall!
