Fledgling |
Hello,
It has been a while since my last post. David is doing very well right now. His summer went well with a lot less Migraines than the school year. Of course they are easier to deal with without the pressures of school. So far this year he has only had 1 since school started. I think a lot of his headaches are stress, his current teacher has a masters degree in child psychology so maybe that helps. Anyway, Son Sean age 7, (David is 8) came home from school today and said after recess while in line, his head hurt really bad and he saw black spots in his vision. It lasted for 10 seconds (he is ony 7 so who knows how long it really lasted). He isn't a big headache kid. about 2 years ago he had a CT scan because he was getting headaches in the morning and he threw up a couple of mornings. CT came back normal. Right away I feel sick to my stomach and I'm in the bathroom (sorry for the visual) I always worry worse case..... Anyone ever heard of this with Migraines. Again we have the family history. Me, his brother my mother in law, sisters in laws, my grandparents. Anyone have this type of headache?????? Help Cheryl |

The symptoms you describe could be migraine symptoms, but no one can diagnose him over the internet. You need to get your son to his doctor ASAP to get a diagnosis. His doctor will want to examine him and interview you and your son before deciding on a diagnosis. The sooner you find out what it is, the sooner the doctor can do something to help your son.
There are a couple of articles I'd like you to take a look at: Migraine With Aura – The Basics Abdominal Migraine - The Basics I'm so glad your older son is doing better. If the stress in his life is reduced, it may be making him less susceptible to his triggers, even though stress itself is not a trigger. To help your sons and their doctor(s), you could start keeping migraine diaries for them. The diary will help you to identify triggers, and will give you a much better sense of frequency and symptoms. Here is a link to some diaries you could use: Migraine and Headache Diary Good luck with all of this. |

Yes, Burnsie, get him to his doctor.
This could be migraine, or something as simple as a blood pressure shift when he stopped running and got in line. ONLY a doctor who actually sees him can make a diagnosis, though. I mentioned the blood pressure shift because it happens to me, and has for many years. Several doctors have told me not to worry about it, that it comes with having low blood pressure to begin with. But, this is from my doctors over the years. Good luck, Rebecca |
