Hello, David has his MRI tomorrow. I am trying not to worry (It's in my nature though
David has been having stomach pains everyday for over a week. He stopped taking Antibiotics for an illness last tuesday (3/4/08) Sometimes he has loose stool, sometimes nothing. The DR thinks it is all related to him being a stressed out kid (apple doesn't fall far from the tree she said) But he sometimes wakes in the middle of the night with the pains and tries to go to the bathroom. Even if he goes he sometimes is still back in there within an hour. I kept thinking it was abdominal migraines (he feels like he is going to vomit too) but his stool is loose and I'm not sure if that goes along with them or not. Maybe it's the antibiotics but, he had stomach pains before that. Anyway, wish us luck. I guess we'll get the results by Friday I hope. Cheryl |

Aw Cheryl best of luck tomorrow!
An MRI is really not such a big deal for the lil guys. Try not to worry! My 9 year old had an MRI on his neck and head. They had to sedate him for it, as its hard to get a good pic. with a 30-50 min. MRI trying to get a kid to hold still. It was a planned sedation though. They always do it for younger kids. Do keep us posted on the results! good luck and lots of Tawsha |

Thanks for thinking of David. I always get worked up and nervous over any medical stuff.
Just not sure what to make of the stomach issues though. Anyone have any thoughts? They come and go. No noticed link to dairy that I notice. If it were food related would he wake up at 4am? wouldn't that be too long since he ate (7-8pm snack) Do abdominal migraines come with loose stool? I have read they come with pain/nausea. Thanks Cheryl |

Cheryl, I can't speak to abdominal migraine, as I don't get them myself, but I do get loose stools relatively frequently with my migraines. I would imagine it's possible with abdominal migraine as well. (Someone else can correct me if I'm wrong on this.)
As for David's problem's being stress-related, that sounds like a cop-out to me. If you're not getting satisfactory answers from his current doc, don't be afraid to look around for a new one. You both deserve the best care you can find. Let us know how it goes. We'll all be pulling for you. -MJ my blog: http://rhymeswithmigraine.blogspot.com/ "What will you do, if it does not turn out how you expect?" "I do not know. Cheryl,
Good luck today with the MRI. It's a good tool find out what is going on or not in his abdoman. As Tawsha said kids usually have to be sedated since it's just to difficult for them to hold still that long. He will do fine. He'll probably find the process and machinery fasinating! Cindy |
