I have been in a day treatment program at pain clinic for the past three months. When it was suggested I did it to prove that it wouldn't work for me and that it was a waste of time.

I have NEVER been so happy to be so wrong in my life. Instead of having headaches every day, I am now having them five to six times a month. A GREAT improvement. I am so thankful to these people who have given me a new lease on life. I am actually able to work on a regular schedule instead of calling in sick all the time.

This program was a real blessing. I thank God that I was fortunate enough to have a doctor that thought enough to get me into the program.

So y'all have heart there is hope...even when you don't expect it.

The pain program at this particular pain clinic is a general one for all pain. Then they tailor it to your specific needs. This included for me Occupational Therapy (weight training for my shoulders), Dietary(figuring out which food triggers cause the migraine, and how to supplement meals to avoid headaches), Psychotherapy (biofeedback, stress reduction, talking about how pain affects life and how to get around it), meeting with the doctor (meds and coordinating pain clinic therapies), and Physical Therapy (an exercise that is too hard to explain here. It is unbelievable AND it works).

It is multi-disciplinary and has really helped me out...I hope all of you can find something simular.

Thumbs Up Hey Kristy,

It was awesome to read your story of success! Too often, all we hear are the bad things, and that can lead us to think there is no hope for getting better. What a wonderful thing to know that you found a program that works for you! If it can work for you, I have no doubt that it can work for others!

I really am impressed with the clinic's holistic approach to medicine and treating migraines. It is rare to find a doctor or a clinic that focuses on your ENTIRE body and mind and how everything works together to either alleviate problems or cause them. Too often, we only focus on the particular problem we are having, and we subsequently only look at one particular option for treating that problem. I really appreciate the interconnectedness of your clinic's approach to healing migraines. Is there a web site or a book or some other means we could access to get more information about the approach they are using at your clinic? I would love to read more about it.

Again, thank you for sharing your successful experience. It gives those of us out here in pain, hope for something better in the future. Here is hoping your migraines continue to decrease in frequency! Yes

Kay

Okay...I had to look up the type of Physical Therapy that did the weird exercises. It is called Total Motion Release (TMR). It is one of the MOST gentle of exercises I have ever come across. Instead of treating the side that causes the pain, you treat the side that does not have the pain through various exercises. I have had level 8 headaches and my back was at 10 done these exercises and was out of pain after I did these exercises. This is done WITHOUT drugs. It is a marvelous exercise.

A physical therapist in North Carolina came up with this. I really think he should get the Nobel Prize in Medicine. It is THAT gentle. I highly recommend trying to find a physical therapist that practices this. It has really decreased my headaches and my lower back problems.

I am going to warn you that when you see the exercises you are going to try to figure out how this works. Just trust the therapist and do the exercises the number of times he/she says and when you are in pain. I invented an exercise after learning the theory for my neck, because not only do I have migraines, but I also have tension headaches. The pain started at work, I tried the exercise and it was gone the third time I did the exercise.

PLEASE if you can not get your pain under control...Find a physical therapist that does this exercise. I can only hope that it works for you as it worked for me.

Kristy, my chiro does that for me for my back and my migraines. Right now he is focusing on my head because that is my most problematic, but it is amazing! He explained that it releases the toxins and relieves the tension in my muscles that occur during my migraines.

I admit, I was skeptical at first, but, it feels great after you get past the whole, what is this guy doing stage Blinking. My next hurdle is to actually make it to the appointments. I think we are talking about the same thing....? If not, ooooopppppssss!

Kirsty,
am the founder of Total Motion Release and I love what you said about it and the results it produced for you.

Everyday I get emails about what TMR has done for people - I feel very blessed to be able to share this with clinicians around the country. I knew the minute I saw it happen with one of my patients I had to share it.

I have a patient that I taught TMR to, just like your therapist did for you, and he reports that about 3-5 people a week now come up to him and ask him to show them the exercises. He was a mess prior to getting TMR help and his recovery has been amazing and because of it, people who knew him before cannnot stop asking him for help. His stories amaze me.

I just wanted to say thank you for your kind words.
