Just got back from my 1st visit with the new doctor. It's amazing how differently and holistically a real HA specialist and a good team treat things- it's not just your head that hurts... it's the neck that's adding to the problem... So we attack the problem. Had some trigger point injections done. I walked out of there feeling like a new person. My neck didn't hurt. My neck wasn't tense. The lowgrade migraine that had been trying to get me all morning- but not quite getting a grip was gone.

It was a whole person approach. The interviews, the consulting with multiple persons- medical tests, when needed, and a waiting room that wasn't a trigger waiting to happen. No odors, no loud TV. Just quiet people waiting.

The best thing I heard was from the doctor "yes, we can do it today- WE need to get you better." At last- a person who wants to work with me as an educated patient, not a compliant dishrag looking at him all starry eyed due to his MD title.

I feel like I have a shot at feeling okay again. This is good. This is so good.

Oh- and as to the moronic doctor from the clinic back where I came from originally.... "You are SO fired!"

Yay!!! So happy for you! Big Grin

Those Headache Specialists really do make all the difference in the world!! I've been seeing mine for 10 months now (after 17 years of suffering!), and I finally feel like I have hope now too. Cool Congratulations to you!

Thanks, Teri...

And thanks for Everything- you SO helped make this happen. It's amazing how much can start to completely turn around in 3 weeks (Wow- was it only 3 weeks ago that I was in complete meltdown?) Thanks again!

Big hugs,
Jamie

That is so absolutely, undeniably, decidedly, utterly SPIFFY! Smiler I'm so happy for you I'm just about majorly jumping up and down in my chair, which probably isn't advisable since I just came from donating blood. LOL!

My appointment went well, too. We accomplished all of my agendas (I suppose it's actually agendae), from med refills to curiousity questioning to scheduling next week's test. It's all good. Not that I expected anything different.

SWEET! Smiler

Thank you, Droolie. Oh, please don't hurt yourself after donating blood-- I wish I could!! I hope you donated for me- just like my napping service was shared the other day!

I'm in a little pain today from the blocks and shots and all of that jazz...but... the fact that they're going to work on the disc problem- and that I wasn't crazy that this was causing my additional migraines. I sent my boss a long email with all of the news- and he sent back a happy smiley email... I've definitely been a better employee lately, and if this will get the last of it... like the 2 days I spent in bed this week... it will be good for everyone.

Thanks for rooting for me- I felt all of the forum spirit cheering me on, and a huge dragon about to blow down anyone who got in my way- like the awful weather that i had to drive in to get out there...

Glad your app't went so well also! Med refils and test stuff are definite agenda items worthy of discussion and need for clarification.

I'll write more when my arms stop hurting from all of the weird sleep and contorted positioning that i've done all week to be comfortable.
Due to the fact that a steroid was injected with the lidocaine and other analgesic/numbing agents yesterday, let's just say that i didn't get much sleep... and then there was the icepack that I was supposed to be using all night--- yeah try sleeping on that... As you toss and turn from the steroid...

But, still.... I feel like a million bucks... and I won't complain about the little things!

Mucho Hugs,
Jamie

(Ok, now I've just used my one word of spanish vocabulary... In fact... I don't even know if those words go together- or if I just created a "Taco Bell-like" mish mash of language that was not meant together! Oh well.. I'm alllowed tonight...I'm happy!!!)

Rooting for you comes with the territory of knowing droolie. Smiler I've got to warn you, though. I'm not really a "huge" dragon. As dragons go, I'm probably on the puny side, but while I may not be gigantic, I've got that German in me, so I can be mighty when I've a mind to be. Big Grin

For those that aren't in the know and are curious, I'm going the spinal tap thing on Wednesday to see if some symptoms are explainable by intracranial hypertension, or if we can just pin it on migraine in general. Since I already have essentially lost the vision in my right eye long ago, any potential problem that could further impact my vision gets checked out, in the interest of sight preservation. It's one of Droolie's Laws.

But, still.... I feel like a million bucks... and I won't complain about the little things!

Which is actually seven million in dog bucks, right? Big Grin

Mucho Hugs,
Jamie

You're allowed. Thinking back to my very rusty Spanish, I believe hug is estrecha. Ergo it would be muchas estrechas. But I took Spanish half my life ago. I could be clueless.

Jamie, I'm so glad to hear that your appointment with the new doc went so well. Having a specialist who really takes the time to listen and gets to work right away and with an aggressive sense of purpose makes all the difference in the world. Nothing like having relief at the first appointment! I really hope you're on your way to some lasting relief Smiler

Bye bye Dr. Moron Razzer

Thanks, Liz. Smiler

I'm sure it will go fine. No matter what happens, I'm pretty much guaranteed to actually *know something* after this round of testing. I just don't see any reason why this shouldn't end up win-win. That in itself is priceless, as is my neuro doc. Smiler The only thing I'm going to hate is the lying around bit after. I'm not a good sitter arounder by any means. After about an hour or two I might get a little owly, 'cuz I want to pop up and do stuff. Smiler

Droolie,
Do we have to send someone out to Montana to sit on you for the hours after the testing? I know sitting around can be hard sometimes- try books on tape if reading's hard.

Otherwise, we WILL send the wellness posse out to hold you down and make sure you take it easy! Wink

I hope things go really really really well for you this week. Feel free to vent if you need to- I'm there, should your paws care to type. Big hugs, and good vibes, and loads of dragon strength!

Jamie

I promise to be as good as I possibly can be for both Wednesday and Thursday. It is for a good cause, after all.

I'm preparing to be sacked out on the sofa. If nothing else, I'll bring up the entire Lord of the Rings extended edition of DVDs and watch them in one swell foop. That otter keep me occupied if my books don't. Smiler I have every intention of being good and avoiding the potential dreaded headache. I'll be fine as long as my upper back holds out. I might flare up a bit from all that lying there. I'm going to ask my doc if it's okay to take my Soma or something should that happen, so you won't have to send the posse over. I will be taking it very easy. I just might not like it much after the newness wears off. Smiler
