I had a great ER visit last night and wanted to share with you guys!

The migraine started on Friday but I was able to keep it at bay with my meds until Saturday. A strong storm moved through my area and my head went from a manageable migraine to a severe migraine in a matter of an hour. I took my Maxalt and it didn’t even touch it. I haven’t had that happen in months!

I was like that for two days and DH finally said, let’s go to the ER and get this taken care of right now. I hate getting out of the bed when it hurts that much but he was right and I was closing in on three days of being on meds and the cycle needed to be broken.

We walked into an empty waiting room, I can’t remember the last time that happened, and I was taken back to a room immediately. I brought my letter from my doctor stating that I have been successfully treated with IV magnesium sulfate and saline and a list of my medications so all they had to do was ask which ones I had taken to treat my migraine so far.

The doctor and nurse were both great and they hooked me up to an IV in about ten minutes. My pain level went from a 9 to a 3 and by the time I got home I was down to about a 2. The entire ER trip only took two hours. Thumbs Up

Today, I’m a little “hung over” but doing so much better than yesterday. DH had the great idea of keeping the letter from my doctor in the glove compartment for next time. Fingers Crossed that it will be a long time!!

Megs-Yep big hugs to my DH. I can be pretty stubborn about going to the ER and it turned out it was my best visit yet LOL

Nancy-Thank you so much! Great experience and feeling better, who can ask for anything more??

Laura,

That is a great success story!!! Having the letter in hand sounds like it made a things go so easy (and a empty lobby doesn't hurt either Wink) I love the idea of keeping the letter in glove compartment too!! I am glad you are feeling better and that your great hubby took such good care of you Group Hug

You should have picked up a lotto ticket on the way home because I think it was your lucky day!

Glad to hear you are feeling better, and it is great to hear an ER story that isn't a nightmare.

Thumbs Up

He got lots and lots of hugs and thanks too. He kept asking why I was thanking him. I finally had to tell him he made me do the right thing, if it wasn't for his "subtle" suggestion, I would have stayed in bed suffering. Duh! Big Grin
