I have to share this simple solution I have stumbled upon that has made my life so much better. Like many of you, I have migraines, chronic neck pain, bad discs, muscle tension in my neck...years of PT..medication overuse on and on.
Anyway, I finally put together my own plan of pt, worked up my supporting neck muscle exercises (yes, it triggered headaches, but I didn't overdo and managed them with meds).
The biggest and most surprising find was that when I was laying in bed trying to completly relax those muscles i found that removing the pillow and laying flat was the best way to achieve this.....I stayed that way all night....I woke....for the first time in years...with NO HEADACHE...I tried it again the next night...no headache. Two weeks later---no pillow-no headache and I sleep through the night. My sleep patterns are better, I wake feeling refreshed...yes, refreshed.
I just had to share this with as many of you as I could reach and this forum was my best bet.
I haven't felt this good in years. Give a try--it's awkward at first--you get used to it.

Hello and welcome to the forum kthemom! It's wonderful to have you here. When you have a moment, please stop by the Start Here Folder for important information and guidelines about the forum. Also, be sure to read Learning About Migraines – Where to Start.

I'm so excited for you that you found something that works well for you. It just goes to show how different we all are, because my Migraine Specialist has me sleep with my head elevated to help avoid the Migraines I sometimes wake up with.

I look forward to seeing you around the forum! Welcome again Smiler

I have a myriad o' pillows on my bed. Deb would have you believe that there are around forty-seven, but really, I only have nine. How many of them I use and which way I arrange them is variable each night according to what my collective pile o' goo demands. There are nights here and there that I chuck them all aside. Most nights I use one or two. It can make a big difference.

Hi Karen,

Welcome to MyMigraineConnection! We are so glad you found something to help reduce your headaches. That must be a relief. Thanks for sharing your experience with us.

Speaking of pillows, if I don't get a new one soon, I'm going to be in big head/neck trouble. I've tried going without a pillow, a tiny pillow, a big pillow, neck pillows, to no avail.

Oh well.... we hope to hear more from you.
