About a week ago, we got back from a 2 week vacation. We had a wonderful time. I had some headaches the first 3 days on the way there and the way back because of the jet lag, but the headaches were very mild because the Nortriptyline kicked in at 12 weeks just like it did last time. The headches tended to be at mealtimes on my home clock, so I would eat snacks at weird times by the real clock, if that makes sense.

The Nortriptyline also helped me sleep and made the jet lag much less of a big deal than it has ever been before. I did wake up in the middle of the night for the first few nights. I would drink some water, eat a small snack and I was able to go back to sleep by listening to books on tape on my ipod.

Another thing we did that helped a lot is that we flew during the day both ways. We did not try to fly and sleep on the plane overnight. It was harder to flind a flight on this schedule and it wasn't the very cheapest flight, but it was worth it.

I was a little worried about the whole thing because I am still doing the "no analgesics" until October or until I have 6 headache free days in a row, whichever comes first. (I am hoping to break my CDH. Don't worry, I'll start being sensible on October 11!)

We had a really nice break. You know it was a good vacation when you get home and look at your to-do list and think "Wow, I'd forgotten all about this and that..... "

So, I took my headaches with me on the trip, but they were not front and center all the time. Success!

Sounds like a very sucessful trip! Thumbs Up

Books on tape/ iPod are just wonderful for relaxing sometimes. I've got a bunch of downloaded podcasts and books to listen to when I need to relax- but can't yet fall asleep.
