I've written gobs of posts about liking to live in a cave- like dark office due to migraines. However, that was no longer going to be acceptable, and I was worried how I was going to keep the lights on, do heavy computer work, and not get a migraine.

So, I asked for a glare filter. I thought they would be dirt cheap. Turns out that if you have a new flat panel LCD monitor, the glare filters can run almost as expensive as the monitor itself! Hair Raising Needless to say, I wound up with the least expensive one that fit my screen.

Until I got my real one, they let me use one meant for the old school CRT monitors... It was clunky, and too heavy for my monitor. So, it was a temp. fix. But Wow... when I looked at my screen, the glare was gone, and so was the rapid pattern flickering. It was like reading a book.

About a week later, my new permanent one came in... and it's gotten even better... I can see the WHOLE screen without tilting anything, and I'm not getting triggered by my monitor!!!!

With this step having been completed, I tiptoed to start putting lights back on... gingerly at first... one at a time.

Now, I have a desklamp, one floorlamp with 3 bulbs and a background light (decoration) on- and I'm going to try the 2nd floorlamp tomorrow. I think it will be okay. Of course, I'm not going to push my luck... the florescents are staying OFF.

But, my boss is pleased by the light, the fact that I'm appearing more and more unmigrainy during the day, and that my door is open (I'd close it to hide when the light got too bad)

The TENS unit helps tremendously too- people are noticing that I'm more able to do things, and not grimacing in pain, or on painkillers for my neck.

Things are looking up...I think I'm appearing "more healthy" during the day than since before last year when the whole migraine free-for-all became a huge part of my waking existence!

So- I get to post a success story! And it feels good!

Woohoo!

Jamie

Awwww, Droolie...
Thanks for the warm fuzzies- you actually put tears in my eyes there! Working at this has not been easy (as you know!) Thanks for all of your help in making this a success story!

Big hugs,
Jamie

Oh- random aside- the smaller electrodes for the TENS unit are amazing! I can actually get 'em on my neck by myself!!-- Just ordered more, as insurance deductible/copays restart at the beginning of June for us... Angel

I called and ordered a new set of electrodes yesterday, too, since my insurance starts over July 1. Thank you for going through this whole process and reminding me.

The company stopped sending me the yellow sheets for reorder a while back, and I never got around to calling, because I knew I had to find my paperwork with the account number on it first. It wasn't that it was hiding where I couldn't get at it, but it just kept getting put off.

You're more than welcome- thanks for all the info and help along the way!! It appears that the Empi folks can look you up in their system just by name- the account number isn't absolutely necessary. Or at least, it appears that this is true, 'cause I didn't have my account number with me when I placed the order this morning, and they found me just fine in the 'puter!

Oh- I used the alien experimentation line more than once today when all 4 electrodes were visible. Got a bunch of laughs from those whom I've worked with for a while... and some Confused "What is up with her" stares from newer staff! They'll learn...after all, quirkiness is appreciated around our office!

Thanks, Robin!

Yes, technology is great. I'm a tech geek, so it's rather fitting that technology is helping me gain some control over things.

It's nice to be at this point again- where I can see things looking up, and I'm hopeful that the new HA specialist can help me get things to the next point- not just back to the point where I was before everything seemed to go wrong!

Thanks, Nancy!

Can't wait to see what happens next week- next series of blocks, and also back to the PT for neck stuff--I think this next PT visit is essentially a "massage" for lack of a better real term for some manipulation that makes things happy... but isn't "chiropractic manipulation"

Between the two, I'm thinking these will make things even happier for my neck- and back of head. Oooh! The very thought makes me psyched... If I can prevent of 90% of the neck triggered- TTH triggered migraines, I'll be very very happy.

I gave my lawyer the heads up about the purchase of the TENS unit, so if my insurance doesn't cover it 100%, it can be added to the first accident med bills- after all, it was that first disc problem that started the downhill slide-- and then freefall...

It's nice to be climbing back UP the mountain! Thanks for being there for the ride!

I know what you mean by coming by Higher Power! I love it when things are invented and helping out for Migraines. I just wish that more things would come out for those of us who have migraines! Again, Congrats!
