I've been posting so much in the Vents and Gripes folder that I figured I'd try and come up with a success to post.

First, THE GIANTS WON THE SUPERBOWL!! (My DH has been giggling all day!)

I had a migraine Sat and Sun, a 2-day-er, after 10 days of every other day. So the migraines are actually a little worse. But my mood, my mental outlook is a little better today.

I did a course of Medrol over the weekend, and I called my mig specialist today. He said to take another course of Medrol, which I'm doing. He also confirmed that it was likely just my period hitting mid-Jan that set me off again, and that I'm just going to have to be patient and ride this out (see Menopause Ticker below!) And I have an appointment with him next Monday, too.

He referred to me as a "complicated chart," given all my sensitivities and other meds and comorbid conditions. That actually had the effect of reassuring me. The reason everything's so difficult is that everything is in fact difficult! I actually AM a complicated case. It's not just that I'm defective somehow or lazy or bad. I'm stumping one of the top 10 specialists in the country!!!

Anyway, that's my success story. I have succeeded in being complicated, which has reassured me and made me feel better about myself and my situation. Funny kind of reverse logic, isn't it?!

(I'm 54, have had severe migraines for over 4 years due to menopause, plus I have fibromyalgia. I take Imitrex plus Anaprox as an abortive and am working with my migraine specialist to find a preventive. I keep a detailed migraine diary and have made significant lifestyle changes to reduce my risk of migraines.)

Laura Sue:

Congratulations on being complicated! Thumbs Up

In some way, finding out you are "complicated" has helped you to feel "normal."

I was so happy the underdogs won!!

Since the Bills weren't in it, as usual, we really weren't to vested. But so happy about the Giants, since we do live in the "other" part of NY.

LauraSue,

I'm glad you're feeling a little better emotionally...Now let's get to feeling better physically!

My dear, we'll stick by you--complicated or not!! Wink

It's funny, but I think we all start to feel a little "defective" when new meds don't work...But hey! With every med that "fails," we're one step closer to finding something that works!

Hoping you're feeling better tonight... Group Hug

Oh LauraSue -

Here's to being complicated!! Birthday Cake (I'd a put a martini glass but we don't have one! LOL)

I'm with everyone else - complicated is way better then "normal" who wants "normal"???

Even without migraines - I wouldn't be anywhere near "normal"!!!! Razzer Razzer Razzer

Hope you are feeling much better!!!!!

Thanks everybody. I'm still feeling pretty rotten physically. No migraine yet today but wicked hangover postdrome. Just achy all over and no energy at all. Oh, I just realized, it's a fibromyalgia flare as much as a migraine hangover. Dang, two for one. Aren't I lucky...

Let's see, that calls for Tylenol and Ultram, chocolate ice cream and back in bed with heating pad on low. And maybe a game of Sudoku. Cool!

LauraSue - i do hope you feel better today! And that you thoroughly enjoyed the chocolate ice cream and sudoku! Sounds just like my comfort ritual!

By the way, this is a great conversation - let's hear it for complicated:

If we weren't complicated we'd be simple! Who wants that? Big Wink
