Breyers Vanilla Ice Cream - Yes, the brand must be Breyers. Big Grin
Believe it or not, this was highly recommended by my Neurologist. Breyers is *natural* ice cream. Why vanilla? Confused Must be the black dots. LOL.

Ice Bag - It must be the old fashion kind with the hard plastic screw on cap. You can find them at your local pharmacy like CVS. They come in 2 sizes, large & small. I find the large size works much better for my head.
Fill it up with ice CUBES & place bag on forehead or top of head. Whichever is more comfortable for you.

NAPS - Take one every day. Even if it's a "cat nap". Doesn't matter what time of day or night. Take one.
If you have small children, take one when they take theirs.

Housework - Forget about it! Big Grin
If you have children - enough said...........
If you have a significant other - enough said........
If you can afford it, hire someone to do it for you. House cleaning services are not expensive.

Pepsie - For those of us who are not addicted to coffee. Drink it w/your *migraine* meds. The meds work much faster.

Thats it for now. Good night!

Oh, how I wish I could. I can't just take a nap- wouldn't have time, and also can't sleep during the day, as my antidepressant meds are meant to give me additional energy.

I had someone clean my house once in the past year- while i had bronchitis- it was great. My significant other and I were so pleased with how nice things looked, and I didn't feel like such a big drain on him b/c he would have had to do ALL the work. Unfortunately, due to financial concerns... not gonna happen right now

I much prefer Coca Cola... in a can- not bottle.
Sometimes I'm able to hold the nausea off until the zofran kicks in.

Thanks for adding these... I may have to try out the ice cream thing this week...Headaches and migraines galore.

Hmmm...Breyer's Vanilla, huh. Well, it certainly sounds fun to try out. Smiler

My ice has to be of the frozen water bottle type, in direct contact. Ice bags with the screw-on cap just aren't cold enough for me.

I'm not a good napper. Unless I've got a cold or something like that, I just get groggy and owly, and my whole day is shot.

Housework is indeed better left to chance, or to someone else entirely. Smiler

Pookie I didn't see this post about your ice cream fix so I posted in the Best Medicine thread.

Anyway, I love my naps. A day doesn't go by without one.

What housework.....

Direct ice contact is excellent also. The COLDER the better. The thing about the ice bag I Iike is that when I have a "mild" migraine I can walk around the house w/the bag on top of my head instead of walking around dazed from my meds.

If you are not a napper then you can just lay down for a few minutes & "rest". You don't have to "sleep". Just give your brain a "rest" a few minutes of down time each day.
You will be amazed what this will do to your migraines after a few days of this.

I'm afraid I'm not very good at the lie down and "rest" thing. If I crash out on the sofa during the day, I pretty much have to have something to read. I'm a very avid, compulsive reader of anything that crosses my path. I go nuts with straight-up downtime. Smiler

But...I do often crash on the sofa or the floor with my book during a migraine. And another "unwind" I do is to come down here to the computer and play something like Alchemy or Luxor during a migraine. It changes the focus off the pain.

I'm on that last "boss" level. (I have the actual game, since I found it one day at Office Max last spring). I came really, really close to beating it, too, the other day. And then I died. Oh, well.

One medication that has helped with my daily headaches is Petadolex. I also take neurontin and replax for the bad migraines.

Yeah, I often read, play tetris or draw when I have a migraine. I didn't know I wasn't the only one who did things like that!

I can't really concentrate enough to do homework like essays though.

I love napping. It is my favorite hobby. Although sleeping fourteen hours is a little excess of my part.

The best thing lately for me has been reading 'fluff' books. By that I mean emotionally satisfying but simple on the plot and not at all complex books. I can't think straight or at all, but I can really indulge in this sort of book. It is an expensive treatment, because fluff books can be read five times faster than the average book. And then there is the whole storage issue. But still a indulgence I firmly recommend. In fact, it can lead to napping as well, so good all around.

Just adding to the ice cream... what works for me is Haagen Dazs Mayan Chocolate .. I know for some people chocolate is a trigger but for me it is magic.. it just calms me down (the cinnamon), and as it cools down my head from the inside.. wow...wow
