My fighting weight after I had my child was 128. I started gaining weight when I started preventives, with Pamelor. Depakote helped put a lot of weight on me. So did Nardil and Zyprexa. I topped out at 245 in the summer of 2000.

I lost weight on Topamax, but it made me feel too bad, and it didn't help my head.

I did Weight Watchers last year and lost 14 pounds. I switched to Diet Center the first of this year.

This morning, I broke the 200 lb barrier! I've been closing in on this landmark for months. The next thing is to make sure I'm below 200 when I weigh in on Friday.

Thanks for listening. It's semi-on-topic because of all the weight-gain side effects.

Yeah! Congrats! I have put on 50lb just in this past year. My normal weight should be like 140 and right now I am a little under 200. All these medications take such a toll on our bodies. I think my metabolism is so confused it has no idea whats going on! I think this is a battle many of us have to deal with but don't like to talk about. I think it goes hand in hand with battling the depression that goes along with chronic pain as well. I don't think a lot of people realize that not only do we deal with the pain of migraines, but the depression and weight gain as well. Frowner

Congratulations to you!!! Big Grin

And I'm so glad you posted this because I think it's very "on-topic" too, and something which I've also been dealing with lately! THANKS
It's really hard to keep the weight down on all these preventives, and I don't think many "healthy" people can understand that.

We should be supporting each other in ALL things migraine. Wink

Huzzah! I was under 200 at today's weigh-in. Only a tiny bit, but it was in the 100's.

Thanks for the encouragement. It's great to have such a huge squad of cheerleaders.

YAY!!! Breaking 200 is a Huge accomplishment.

And as for the cheering...

Give me a "G"
Give me an "R"
Give me an "E"
Give me a "T"
Give me a "C"
Give me an "H"
Give me an "E"
Give me an "N"

What does that spell??!?!? Gretchen! Yay, Gretchen! You rock! (imagine cheerleeding paraphernalia and a peppy person leading the cheer- not too loudly in case someone else around here is having a rough time with is..)

Seriously though, way to go!

Jamie
