DH's company's holiday party was tonight. He's one of the bosses, so as the boss's wife, I have to make an appearance. Since I got sick with fibro four years ago, I generally get there about an hour after it starts, stay about 45 minutes, have a diet coke and some yummy appetizers they pass around and then make a graceful exit.

I think I survived it without a migraine!!! Will wonders never cease!!?? Plus it was my second trip out today, had my shrink at 3pm. I took an Imitrex as a preventive at 2 pm before leaving the house, then took another one at 7pm as a preventive before leaving for the party. Had some photophobia on the way home, so grabbed an icepack and went right to bed and now I feel fine!!

That makes 3 days and counting migraine free!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
(If Dr. Green weren't married, I'd kiss him!!)

I'm so glad that things went well. Office parties can really be draining.

Cool beans!

I avoid most ot those big holiday get togethers. It's not that they're neccessarily full of triggers, but I'm not a big crowd person. I prefer the smaller, quieter celebrations. This is especially true with the fibro and migraine sound sensitivities.

Droolie,

Completely agree! I hate parties. Loud and noisy, people I don't like trying to talk to me. I even had an older male co-worker kiss me once. Caught me off guard. Ewwww! Now that I don't drink at all anymore it's even worse watching people get drunk and foolish.

DH's company is small, about thirty people. The party is held in a small restaurant (that makes great crab cakes) and is manageable for me. I still only stay a short time. DH makes such good money there it's a small price to pay to keep everyone sympathetic.

But yeah, I'd druther not go to ANY parties AT ALL!!

Late update: FYI

I think I did get a migraine. Red Face I think that was the adrenaline from the party talking. I hate to admit it and haven't been willing to enter it in my migraine diary, but if I'm rigorously honest, I was photo/phonophobic and my head hurt, plus I felt lousy the next day. Kinda sounds like a migraine, don't it???

Somebody give me a nudge to be honest and put it in my migraine diary. That still means I went two days without and limited it to one day, so that's not too bad.

Here is your official "nudge." As my son would say, "do it!"

Hi LauraSue (and friends)!

My DH's company put the whole Christmas party thing up for a vote. It's a small company and they were more than happy to have an evening get-together for the holidays. But DH and the rest voted for an employee-only lunch during work hours instead. I must admit, I was THRILLED! (Especially because past parties have been held at a hotel 2 hours away from my home. Who wants to travel all that way for a silly party???) I sure hope they do it this way every year!! Smiler
